The correct answer to the poll is McDonald's, but based on your scenario in the OP BK is the way to go. It's laughable that people even try to claim a fast food franchise is better than Mcdonald's. If you have to qualify your statement with "If you have a..." your choice is immediately out of the running.
Are you basing your personally preference with what's the most popular?

Gotta load that sucker with lettuce, tomato, jalapeño and mayonnaise. A close second behind In-N-Out for me.
Wow, perhaps I had shitty(er) staff working that day.

5 guys is pretty great if you're hung over or just wanting to gorge on a good greasy burger. We have one in Kelowna and lots f people go.

Fast food power rankings, bro.

1 - Service
2 - Presence (how many locations)
3 - Price
4 - Availability (hours open)
5 - and most importantly - Consistency

When you put all these together, no one touches McDonald's. My favorite fast food burger is probably A&W, but I know someone in Florida won't know what the fuck that is. Five Guys has a great burger, but their price point puts them way out of contention and their service is eye wateringly slow. They don't really qualify as fast food as all. They're more like a sit down restaurant with shitty decor and no servers.

p.s. I am regarded as somewhat of an authority on burgers as I eat considerably more of them than anyone else I've ever heard of. It's almost shameful.

1- I'm at a fast food joint, service isn't my #1 priority. Having said that In N Out CRUSHES all the joints listed in my experiences. Those guys were going to tables giving my kids stickers, bringing me a shirt once they talked to me knowing I was from Canada.

2- Unless I'm a frequent Traveller why does this matter. The absolibest fast food burger joint I've been to was called Rodeo Drive In in Surrey BC. It was a ma and Pa shop opened since the 60s or so and it was incredible.

3- Fair placement

4- I'd place this at 5 probably

5- Good call. One reason why I enjoyed Timmies for so long before I went with black coffee.

The order of the numbers doesn't denote importance of that individual ranking. Service does matter, especially you with kids know the difference between waiting 5 minutes for food or waiting 30.

2- Unless I'm a frequent Traveller why does this matter.
We have a really strong burger joint here in Ottawa. It's a 45 minute drive from my house. Five Guys is 10 minutes. How often do you think I bother making that 45 minute drive?

4- I'd place this at 5 probably
Like I said the order of the numbers isn't necessarily of importance, but as my man teamquestnorth @teamquestnorth can attest, being able to eat at all hours of the night is relevant. Mom and pop burger joints usually fail miserably in that department.

5- Good call.
Like I said, put the 5 of them together and no one touches McD's although they certainly do not make the best burger.

When comparing the Big 3 in terms of taste, McDonald's and Burger King are nowhere near Wendy's. They ain't even in the same ballpark. They're just barely the same fucking sport.

Taste wise, Wendy's is the best of the Big 3 and better than most others.

5 Guys doesn't count. No drive through. I'm a huge fan but they don't count.
Whataburger and In n Out are too regional but from my experience Whataburger was better. Spicy ketchup is a solid condiment

Hardee's/Carl's Jr wins for me because the burgers are good and their breakfast smokes the others.
Wendy's is probably the best all around for entrees.
The Whopper may be the best individual burger.
McDs wins for fries and nostalgia.

PD Quix...the seasoned waffle fries alone are better than any burgers from those other joint's. Similar to chic fil a's but seasoned with magic dust.

The Burgers are fantastic for fast food fare. Shitty stock photo doesn't do them justice, but that's all I got for now.

Went there for the first time recently. Drive-thru line was long as fuck. When I got close enough I looked at the menu and said to myself "wow, only 3-4 items? WTF???"

Then I tried the double-double.

And everything made sense.
They never get your order wrong, the place is always clean, and the employees are nice because they're taken care of. Managers make 6 figures. They do it right.

I live in Wisconsin, so I vote Culver's. They are everywhere around here. Honorable mention, although not really fast food, is Red Robin. Fuck they're good.

A&W

We don't have a ton of options around these parts... McDs, Burger King, Wendy's, Dairy Queen, A&W and that's really about it for fast food burger joints.
