I woke up to this-

I have to go buy a jacket. Its supposed to snow more today. I left Minnesota in shorts.
I didn't see Wild Bill's ghost lastnight. There are old resturants, bars, with names from the show.

I've always had a fascination with little old towns from those days. A plan I had was to buy an RV when I retire and travel to places like Deadwood, Tombstone, Virginia City, etc.

Good stuff. Take the hike around the base. It's pretty short.

Make sure you check out the Badlands while you are out that way if you haven't already.
Im heading to Crazy Horse memorial today after we're done here. Tommorow Im heading back down through the badlands. This turned out to be a nice little trip.
My kid (who's 7) got kind of obsessed with Roushmore. So I told him I'd take him out here. So here we are.

It's a great area with lots to see in a relatively close area. I absolutely loved the Badlands.

Crazy Horse is pretty interesting, but they do charge you as soon as you pull off the main road. There is a couple museum type rooms there that show the history of the carving and their people.

They used to run shuttles up to the carving but I don't know if they do that anymore. From the observatory area, I'd say the distance from you to the carving is similar to Rushmore, but you are viewing it more from the side instead of straight on.

Overall it felt more "touristy" than Rushmore, but worth checking out. Have fun.

I didn't know if they would let you at all.
You can with gear. It's a pretty popular climb. My buddy has done it. I don't know if you can do it year round or what, but I know he's done it. He has a picture of him at the top.

We got tribal plates so they just waved us through. There's nothing to see here today though. Too much fog, cant see shit. My little guy is pissed. Im watching a movie here and they said Roushmore would fit in Crazy Horses head. 30 foot horse nostrils lol. Fucking thing is big.

It's bigger than the Rushmore individual heads for sure, but I don't know about all 4 combined.

If they've started on the horse I'd love to see it. When I was there it was just his face.
