Suspensions from fight:

Bryce Harper : 4 games
Hunter Strickland : 6 games

As always, both are appealing the suspensions.
This is kind of bullshit considering Harper will actually miss 4 games and Strickland is missing one start of the teams choosing.

Strickland is a bullpen guy so it's a decent suspension. He will probably miss 3 or 4 appearances where he likely would have pitched.

Not that you can equate that to 4 games from a position player of Harper's caliber, so your point still stands.

I also imagine 4 games from Harpers paycheck is a hell of alot more than 6 of Stricklands

Did Posey get beamed yet?
Uneventful game.
Harper went 0-5 with 3 Ks. Was at the plate twice with the bases loaded. He was the only Washington position player to not get a hit.
Hunter Strickland did not pitch.

Washington won 6-3
They play again tonight. Scherzer v Cain.

So no retaliation?

I guess Dusty told his players not to do anything.

Even with a bad start, the Red Sox are barely behind the most overrated, overpaid bunch of entitled chickenheads, the Yankoffs

Watching Pirates vs Arizona and there might be 100 people there.....seemed sold out when they made the playoffs a few years ago, where are they now?

It's Pittsburgh. They have the most loyal fanbase of any city anywhere. Or so everyone is told. Probably just bad camera angles. I'm sure it's packed.

Albert Pujols sitting on 599 HRs.

Only 8 players have hit 600+ in their career. Sosa (609), Thome (612), Griffey (630), Mays (660), ARod (696), Ruth (714), Aaron (755) and Bonds (762).

But as Pujols chases down #600 - which in the past was always been met with huge fanfare - the baseball world is like...

"Hey babe, wanna go to the game and see if Pujols hit's #600?"
Sure. Sounds like fun.
"You sure? I know you don't like baseball that much."
Yeah. It's a nice night. Let's go...

I think the fact its happened so much the last decade coupled with the steroid era has made it just another HR.

If Pujols stayed in St Louis this would have been huge.

Kershaw got strikeout number 2,000 last night. He's the 2nd fastest pitcher to reach 2,000 (277 games) - Randy Johnson was the quickest (262 games).

Kershaw is the fourth pitcher to get to 2,000 strikeouts in a Dodgers uniform. The other three -- Don Sutton (2,696), Don Drysdale (2,486), and Sandy Koufax (2,396) -- are in the Hall of Fame.

He still has a way to go to catch Nolan Ryan, the all time leader with 5,714.

Charlie Blackmon (COL) is leading MLB with 47 RBI. Dude hits leadoff. That is incredibly impressive.

He's hitting .438 with RISP.

I agree with the last part of this especially. Much bigger baseball market than the Angels. But much like when Thome got to 600, if you're not still THE guy then no one will really pay attention. It's a shame too because it's going to be quite a while before anyone else does it unless Miggy plays for another 6 years or so.

When you look at HRs per season, Pujols was actually ahead of everyone for much of his career. Sort of an unfair comparison to the older guys because they played fewer games back then. And for Ruth, the first 5 years of his career Boston was dumb enough to use him as a pitcher so his HR totals didn't start to take off until his 6th season. One has to wonder how many he would have hit had he been a position player from the beginning of his career.

I'm such a nerd.

LOL @ the 1920 season.
Ruth had 54 HRs. The 2nd place dude had 19.
Can you imagine a player today leading the HR race by that big of a factor? Insane. And he did it with a .376 average.

there was a chapter in a book I've read, think it was baseball by the numbers, that compared Ruth to other players by all the advanced stats. Basically the only hitter who can compare to The Bambino was Bonds' in his peak steroid years
