Two things.

DJ asked for Pettits they forced him to sign for Borg so he didn't hand pick his opponent.

Dana insinuating in interviews that DJ is scared of TJ and trying to bully him into doing what he wants is insulting and bashing a fighter, period.

In summary, you had a little fit about some people on an Internet forum bashing a fighter (which has absolutely no effect either monetarily or career wise on her) yet, when the dude who runs the UFC bashes a champion and it has serious repercussions for the fighter that's a ok with you.

Where is this "hand pick" stuff coming from? You might be falling prey to the Dana's Kool Ade.

Ray Borg is the highest ranked flyweight that he hasn't fought yet, under the only existing ranking system in use by the UFC (the one they themselves create/publish, which is a crock of shit, but never mind that). It goes #1 Benavidez, #2 Cejudo, and #3 Borg right now.

And the UFC made that fight with Borg, according to MM. There's no reason to think he's lying. He's not the "just make shit up as I go" type.

I'd like to see MM fight TJ, too, but it's his life & career, not mine. If I acted like it wasn't, that would make me kind of an idiot, wouldn't it. His point that TJ would likely not make weight is completely valid. Don't forget TJ came down from 145.

As we have seen, they don't always give the full show money when the opponent doesn't make weight. This is part of MM's problem.

Its important to distinguish what's good for fans and what's good for fighters. Currently some Zuffa shit are good for fans, superfights are for fans (even though mostly for new ones but still). I want them to unionise, so I like this jabber. A union would most likely come to a reasonable agreement behind exciting/worthy fights.

Currently every division is in some kind of turmoil or at least uncertainty related to potential 'super' fights, aside from men's HW, Featherweight and LHW and women's whatever the lower weight is called.

And even LHW is a bee's dick away from the same shit, as one of it's champs is an elderly former undefeated HW and the other has always expressed desire to move up.

And this has been awful for the sport financially and for the fans.

I distinguish between us fans and casual fans. Since I guess it has become mainstream, the UFC will try to reach the largest possible demographic, these are the new pool of fans and they have no clue about fighting, so they are being sold bs, but they still buy it, so they keep selling etc etc. Its not good for me or you but you know what I mean? I think they are the target fanbase behind the recent decisions...i think they are getting more people to tune in in general. Yes it has left both fucked up and its is true, it is bad for the sport and for all fighters that Dana don't like, but in the end a positive outcome of this might be a union, which would be a great end to this circus. I do however think that "bigger" fights (in an ideal world all fighters would see the spotlight of promotion, in practice DJ gets two tweets before his fight) could in general help fighters, those who get to pick...or those who choose their storyline to follow and not wait for the UFC to make some bs up., as they have been doing all along. Fighters are getting outraged and speaking out, this in the end I think will be good for all. The other option is much more pessimistic, the UFC runs this shit into the ground, eventually the casuals tune out because they realise they are watching an 18+ version of WWE and everyone's done with it, I don't want to think about this too much.

Yes, but Bantamweights exist. It doesn't have to be TJ's call, and the UFC doesn't have to do exactly what TJ wants because TJ wants it. They don't have to force their longest reigning champion ever to take this fight to do them and their guy a favor. How often is a champion an injury replacement?

He just wants to see the fight. What he doesn't see is so does everyone else, but we look at MMA as a business. TJ doesn't get to call his shots in another division. Especially when he's not even the champ and is arguably #3 in his own division.
