That fucking cladding was a big mistake, here in Australia every single material that is to be used in residential applications needed to be tested by a government body. Now the industry is self regulated LOL so we get all the cheap Chinese imported shit that costs human lives.

The council and government have been so horrendously slow in even starting to organise help for the residents. Pretty much everything being done has been carried out by volunteers from every community. They are having to turn away offers of help. What they haven't got is organisation and direction. Its a tinderbox of emotion and if more isn't done its going to result in public disorder on a larger scale than we have seen so far.

What would be the reason for the lack of assistence from the Council / Government?
Were they purposely avoiding the situation?

Where is that being given as the number? That's doubled from yesterday. As to why the council aren't doing enough? Being charitable I would say they have no experience of this sort of major incident. Certainly no infrastructure. As for the government?
Firemen are saying that number. It's not being reported officially.
They are. They are responsibly reporting confirmed, identified remains. You shouldn't report deaths if family haven't been informed. One of the issues being that there are people not missing, who haven't reported as safe, and people who have sublet flats scared to report that fact, and illegal immigrants fearing repercussions should they notify people missing who shouldn't have been there. The government is offering an amnesty on such matters, but its going to be a hard job.

I heard this on an interview. People claiming the council has/have been eyeing (sp?) this and several other buildings to knock down and build more lucrative buildings......what I heard
