Young man in his 20's. He hit a light pole ejecting him and his girlfriend through the windshield.

He has a broken neck amongst other things and in still in the hospital. Already charged with a felony DUI.

The girlfriend (his boss' daughter) might not make it. She has broken most of the bones in her torso. Brain swelling. Medically induced coma. Puncured lung. Ventilator.

If she dies, he will be charged with manslaughter.

Uber is so Goddamn cheap.

Sad. There really is no excuse anymore. In my LEO days, it was my priority when I ran traffic...I wrote 3 or 4 to 1 DWI's to any other officer in my department. It's an absolute blatant disregard for the lives of others to get behind the wheel under the influence of anything.

I think most of us have at some point unfortunately. If we got away without harming someone or without criminal repercussions we were lucky.

I've done it a couple of times when I was young and it always went the same in my head .I'M FINE. I CAN DRIVE.

I'm just glad I never hurt anyone and had time to wise up.

Yeah, I know man.......I did it consistently for close to 15 years every weekend and additional days if necessary.....fucking stupid and lucky I never killed anyone.....should have crashed my ass into a tree a long time ago to save some unsuspecting couple or family the disaster that was awaiting them.

I don't drive much, but have never driven drunk, and don't like it when people I'm with drink. I didn't always feel that way - when I was younger I drank a bit - but mainly to fit in, and now I just don't see the point of the whole going out and drinking thing. It's not more fun than other stuff.

I had a good friend when I was a kid. I went to look her up and found a news report that she'd been killed sitting in the backseat of a car. The driver was drunk and ran into a cement wall, but for some reason the driver and front passenger survived, maybe because of airbags.

This is such an unnecessary tragedy. Like we don't have enough earthquakes and tornados and diseases to kill people, we have to just make shit up to supplement. So painful for all involved.

I think if she dies its a 10 year minimum in Florida. And I was told by another coworker that with a felony DUI he can't vote or own guns. He was an avid hunter belonging to a hunting club and owned a large kennel of hunting dogs. His life is over as he knew it either way.
