Floyd Mayweather Jr. might have a reputation for being a points fighter, but ‘The Best Ever’ is looking to make a statement against Conor McGregor in two week’s time.

Mayweather’s last stoppage came in 2011 against Victor Ortiz, dropping the former WBC welterweight champion with a controversial pot shot in the 4th round. Before that, ‘Money’ knocked out British fan favorite Ricky Hatton in brutal fashion at the MGM Grand, finishing ‘Hitman’ in the 10th round.

Speaking to the press at a recent media scrum, Mayweather told reporters that he expects to finish ‘The Notorious’ inside 12 rounds. McGregor, he says, would treat it as a personal victory if he went the distance.

I watched the Mayweather media q & a last night and it was pretty good. No persona, no cockiness, just a laid back guy answering questions. He's confident and you can see he doesn't feel the need to beat his chest.

Cause Conor's already sold and is still selling the whole fight for him ... he has to do nothing but let his actions in the ring do the talking at this point

Floyd said in the past he's wanted his opponents to talk shit with him back and forth so they could sell more ppvs

I hate children. Can't get anyone to come out and tip back a few drinks and play golden tee because they're all trying to be good parents and pussy whipped. It sickens me. Fuck it, I'm going to shoot the Freaky Friday course anyway. Deuces.

Yes, and no. Mayweather knows he needs to convince no one that he wins this fight. His heavy lifting is already done on the fighter side, of his involvement. The Mayweather fans who will buy or stream the event are already sold. His job on the promotion, behind the scenes, is what hes working on, while not in the gym. The only stragglers to convince to buy this fight are the people wondering whether it will acutely be competitive and the lowbrows that Conor can convince will see mayweather take his first loss (to a person never having had a professional boxing match). Think about it. Who else, who already isn't buying the event, can they go after? Conor needs to be loud at this point. Mayweather being loud may actually take away buys (if people think rationally).
