My karaoke crowd were a bunch of pill heads though. I'd wind up getting pilled out of my gourd most of the time and not remembering much.

Lol what does that even mean. I had friends that tO pOP pulls. But I would crush uo everything. Even no-doz lol. I fell off tje second floor of the student center back in the day during finals week bc of those lil pills. Landed luckily like jon cena. And only broken hand lol
I don't know why, but I would guess it was stage jitters that made them do it. It was just benzos at first but eventually they'd be handing me stuff like oxy's and it would be blackout city a lot of the time. Which isn't great when those middle aged Chinese tourist ladies are digging your act and you like to pick one up if you weren't completely gooned. I did develop a fondness for the fast acting sleeping pills like Halcion and Restoril. Those were actually pretty nice if you didn't take to many.
I'll still drop by the front of the Carnegie Center occasionally if I'm downtown and try to pick up a small handful of those babies. Not much in the way of drugs you can't find down there...

Lol. It's hard to describe how lucky I was. We were studying on the second floor. Pulling an all nghter and eveery hour we would go outside for a cig as a reward. My buddy took the stairs. ID climb over the railing then grab it. Hand down. Grab the floor (of second floor), then let go of raising with second dhand and hang from floor. The feet like 8-10 feet from ground. Buddy walks out of stair doors, sees me gettibf off tje ground and laughs. I can't speak but I'm walking outside with him, holding my hand. Eventually show it to him without looking, asK "is it broke" lol. Bone wss sticking out (not out of skin, but some finger bones near wrist snapped and we're sticking out huge lol.
First time I had broken anu thing at thar point. It hurt

There was a pretty good little movie made about drifting competitive karaoke players called Duets -- I'd recommend checking that movie out whether you're into the karaoke or not.

Accordoing to the movie there's a competitive karaoke scene yes.
But is it real? Who knows.
The movie has a pretty good cast and they can all sing, Gwenyth Paltrow, Huey Louis, Paul Giamatti, Maria Bello, Angie Dickinson.
