Well, something's gonna fall off this card.
Looks like this is gonna be the new co-main.

They have no confidence in Joanna's ability to sell a PPV. This is her 6th time defending her title. Why not let her headline a UFC in her country?

3 title fights in one night is risky. All 3 of them are more than likely to go the distance, I'm not sure I ready for 75 minutes of point fighting to wrap up an event.

Maybe she'll earn more, fighting 3rd from the top in this stellar card than in headlining a comparatively weaker card in Poland?
My gut right now is picking Rose in the upset and no that doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, so excuse me if I don't watch any of the highlight reels leading up to this fucking fight.

Fuck right off with that shit. I don't need to see bae kicked in the head and beat down 256million times.....

.... anyway, Joanna has this unless she has multiple terminal brain farts like Michelle did. (Maybe WME/IMG will give Rose a chance by sending Joanna on thousands of miles of flights to New York and LA every weekend of fight camp like they did with Michelle. I assume that was the work of the same executive fucksticks Joe Rogan overheard saying Nunes had "no chance" against Rousey.)

I'm not bitter. Leave me alone.

U think jk vs rise will go the distance?
More than likely. JJ has gone the distance in her last 4 title defenses and overall has 14 wins with 9 being decisions. If Rose can win she may be able to to get the sub but that's a tall order. I'd love to see Rose tap JJ just to keep things fresh.

Maybe, but I guarantee if they gave her the option she'd take less to headline in front of her hometown.

On what authority do you guarantee this?
Alright. Go with 'I'd bet large sums of money', 'I'm very confident that', or 'it wouldn't surprise me if'.

I'm basing it off the thing's she's said in the past about her hometown and the way she carries herself.

I love the 2title fights but that mw title bout, how did it happen? Still a mystery. Like the 911 conspiracy, nobody gives a shit, just lets it happen.

Fuck Dana, I hope GSP beats Bisping and pulls bullshit over defending against or ducking other MW, make the division into clusterfuck, put all the blame toward Dana's stupid ego.

Fair enough but Gdańsk isn't her hometown (is it?). No one should doubt her national pride even if she did opt for the bigger pay-day abroad. If she's getting any ppv money then 217 makes all the more sense for her. I don't know the ins and outs of her contract but this seems like a higher profile card and pretty much anything UFC will sell out in Poland.

How much she's making is all just speculation, so you can't really say she'd be giving up anything. Say for instance she's not getting PPV points (a fairly safe bet). Being on these shows would mean nothing extra for her money wise, except for potential earned through gained exposure.

It's just confusing to me that they don't seem to know how to market her. She has everything you'd need to be a star except an easily pronounced name, and that's easily solved with a nickname.

Fair points indeed, I suppose I am speculating due to the decision for her to be on the 217 card- it has to be financial.
Let's look at what would happen if she was headlining the Gdańsk card. Who would buy the ppv? Poles? Not a fucking chance. It's just not what people do here. Would North Americans buy the ppv? That could be anywhere from a 6-10 hour time difference if we include Hawaii so my bet is a big fat no on that one. The greater European market, would they buy the ppv with Joanna Champion vs Thug Rose as the headliner? No. The casual or even hard core European fan does not identify with either of these fighters to any significant degree.
I agree UFC shits the bed on many marketing fronts but putting her on the 217 card is a smart move imo.

Ya ever look at a card and giggle with excitement, then want to break something out of excitement. This card. Yes.
