Started to read but noticed Ben Rothwell missing from the HW top 10. Robbie Hart @Robbie Hart did you want to deal with this or should I?

Let's talk rankings, it's been a while, eh bud? I'll come back to these tonight but I'm curious how Bader and Davis are so high on your list. I'm down with them in the top ten, but 3 and 4 seem a bit elevated to me.

BADER IN THE TOP 3?!

I'll leave this one be only because you also put Bisping at #3.

But I'm shaking my head now seeing Askren at #6 at WW. His last notable win was back in 2013 against a much younger and less polished Koreshkov.

Jimi or Volkan haven't done enough to prove they belong above Phil or Bader yet. Jones & Rumble leaving also play into the high ranks of those two. LHW has seen better days...
Even after watching Bader vs Davis 2? That fight was a pretty strong display that both those guys are lacking when compared to the top 5 guys IMO. Having AJ and JJ gone does make the rest of the guys look like a big step behind so fair enough there.

Only because of his suspension/failed test.
Forgot about that but... Ben KOd your #2 in The Reem not too long ago in the 1st round. Both guys have pissed hot so that should balance out. I just don't see Ben losing to guys like Ivanov. Ben vs Lewis would be great.

Geez, Lima could literally destroy half the welterweights in front of him, Marlon won his fight with Assuncao despite what the storybooks say and could do the same, and Mousasi should be #1 with a bullet considering all his shankings by judges.
That's just for starters.

First of all - thanks for sharing your thoughts on rankings & getting the conversation going.

Imo you aren't giving Bellator fighters enough credit though. Moose & Rory maybe not #1 but certainly top 3 in their divisions.

I don't know if that shows that they're not on the top 5s level though. Especially at LHW. Their styles pretty much just cancel each other out. The first fight was the same way & they've been impressive outside of their fights with each other. Lets not forget that Davis dominated Glover too, someone I assume you consider above him.

In my notes at the top I mention that suspended fighters get removed. Once he's back he'll go back on unless HW is stacked by then...LOL. Right... & Reem has also been more impressive & accomplished more since their fight.

I'm glad my phone has a magnifying glass app

:openmouth:
Haha, I have to make the actual lists into pictures otherwise it makes the brackets all tightened up & very confusing for most. Specifically on mobile.

Absolutely they should.

For Bader vs Davis it wasn't the lack luster performance I'm talking about it's he they both looked slow, our of shape and just basic when looking at other LHWs. You could be right with that being just how this styles matched up but I'd say it's due to not having enough tools to pi k from.

Thanks for the thanks! Hah. My goal is to provide something better & more agreeable than the UFC's utter TRASH excuse for rankings....I know that may be an easy task that a kindergartner could achieve...but still.

Feedback always appreciated. Both guys are clearly great. I can definitely see arguments for Mous being above Luke & possibly Bisping too... But of his five fight win streak(a nice one too), only two of those guys were top 10ers(Weidman & Leites) with three coming off losses/losing streaks. I take into account many variables when doing this so many things come into play. Skill wise, he's arguably the best. But when ranking, #5 is perfect at the moment but again, in cases like these I always understand potential interchangeability.

With Rory it's pretty similar. His losses to Robbie & WB hurt him the most at the moment when it comes to not being a top 3er. I'll say now, a Lima win will move him up at least one spot. Depending on how dominant it potentially is, even higher.

sorry i won't even read.

It's an interesting debate you bring up. I guess Bader's next fight should shed more light on this perspective. I guess Davis' too. But I think they've proven & earned their place as the division's elite. Whether the gap from 2 to 3 is bigger than it should be. Regardless, both dudes should have never left the UFC.

People not being able to understand Bader at #3 is kind of surprising to me. He was what? #4 in the UFC before he left? I'll have to go back & look...uno momento...

Appears that he was #5(actually 6) behind both Jimi & Glover...who have only lost since then while Bader beat worldwide top 5er Phil & has only lost to Rumble in his last nine fights...

I think we can agree that the talent pool in Bellator (while they have a lot of great fighters) isn't as deep as the ufc. That said, if/when a Bellator fighter wins that belt or puts together a good run, would you rank them above a ufc fighter all else equal?

I have basically only followed your last 2 rankings so don't know what criteria you're using. I should try and find your equation I suppose

So a Bellator champ #1 over a UFC champion? Absolutely. Rory or Mous could definitely pull this off soonest. Rory is most likely considering his quality of competition & Woodley's relatively unimpressive run as of late mixed in with a jumbled top in UFC's WW when it comes to fighters with shaky streaks.

I don't have a specific criteria really. I just try to factor in as many things as possible. Some factors weigh more heavily than others, of course. For example, win streaks, performance/how they lost or won & ranked wins are highly factored(not necessarily in that order but they're pretty much the big three) where as skill alone is less so(even though ranked wins, how well one performed & streaks all show how skilled one is so maybe that doesn't make sense to say).

One thing I will say is a monster pet peeve of mine...when people rank based on who would beat who. That's no way to rank what so ever. That's fantasy until it happens.

& the longer you follow my rankings you'll see how my system flows. You can even follow them back update by update if you click the previous ones right under the notes. If you were to feel like doing that that is :p
