I try to do it once a week now because I heard it's good for you. I'll eat a late supper (7-730), not eat the following day and then eat breakfast the following day. It feels kind of good to do it but the only problem is I start spraying the bowl with yellow radio active diarreah when I finally eat again.

That in my opinion is way too long a fast. Typically you will do what you said eat at say 7 and not eat till the next day around maybe 10. That is it. Personally I dont really like.

I did Leangains-style IF (16 hours of "fasting" every day) for a couple of years and found it to be an extremely effective way to get lean. The 8-hour eating window is plenty of time for lunch and dinner so, essentially, you just skip breakfast and late-night snacks.

Not sure that it's "good for you" to start fasting if you're already lean tho.

Yeah did this for a few months, was already lean. Still felt good, good recovery, less inflamation. Of course, I can't be sure it was just because of that, but as long as you hit your calory goal, or stay below it, I reckon it's good.

Pitbull9 @Pitbull3744 can advise, but I tried IF for about 3 months and didn't see or feel any different. All the scientific data I read going into it, I thought I'd see something pretty quick. For reference, my window was 12-8 only and I are pretty clean within that window.

What is funny is all those things that try to restrict food end up fucking you up. If you ask anyone i work with they will tell you that not only do i not restrict food, i slam them with A LOT of it. Its about doing it right, but also doing it for health and longevity. No point in losing weight to only put it right back on when you "get off" your plan.

He makes good points. One of the biggest problems with IF is people dont know how to handle that hunger and when its time to eat dont eat the right things and mess up their meals for the rest of the day AND if you do that you will end up slowing your metabolism down not speeding it up.
Do you think if you are eating healthful foods, doing it for 22 years is good or bad for long-term internal health? Or not really going to make a difference other than keeping you lean? (I mean, and whatever health benefits naturally come with staying lean)

when I was at my peak condition(not right now)
I was fasting from 9pm to 5pm the following day....basically ate all I wanted from 5pm to 9 pm(meat, few beers ,veggies, even desserts)

Daytime, I would have water and if I got really hungry I always had emergency jerky or lil bag of nuts.

I was working hard ass labor 50hrs a week at this time and my body fat/stanima/strength were very high

Did you get really hungry and eat a lot very quickly at 5 pm?

I would be hungry at 5pm.....I would eat twice as much as the rest of the workers for dinner...lotta meat and a salad and maybe some carbs

But I function well in ketogenic mode...aka empty stomach burning your fat/toxins

I was about 175 rock solid at this time...right now I am 200 and no visible abs.

when I was doing this I would have regular daily swings of about 8-10 lbs of food and water weight...Felt rather amazing really

My sex drive was very high also at this time...not sure why I am including this lol

To be fair I smoke cannabis all day every day...or edibles

This may be an unfair advantage....I could quench my "hunger" with some herb and it possibly distracts my system from thinking it needs to grub calories.

Never in my life have I heard of weed "quenching" hunger, bro.
only speaking from personal experience

which I find to be the best way to figure out what works for me

Not claiming it to be medical fact

I speculate that BlackBelt/JediKnights of cannabis can ignore the "muchies/cravings" that some get from occasional cannabis usage.

It certainly doesn't make me crave or get munchies...although it did when I was younger

quenching is probably not the right word, but I give not a single fuck

Restarted this Jan. 1st and will continue at least until I go to Miami in late March. Based on previous experience, I estimate that I'll lose at least 15 lbs. in that timeframe without changing my activity level or the composition of my diet.

I think for overall long term health and mental well being there needs to be a mix of fun foods and healthy foods, about a 90/10 ratio sometimes 80/20 depending on life. Having specific goals will change things but that I'm sure you know.

What do you think about Terry Crews doing IF for 22 years?

It's fine. Someone like him who has been an athlete and lifting and trying so many things just found out his body works best that way. Same as Hershel walker with his crazy diet.

Started this about a month ago. I was attempting to cut weight from 195 lbs to 180 lbs for a jiujitsu competition. I decided to go the diet route because I couldn't work out due to injury. I didn't go crazy, and starve myself, but I cut out most sugar and the weight flew off. I am down to 182lbs and still going. If you want more info check this guy out.

He's good. I follow him a bit & his keto diet.
I intermittent randomly once in a while, but always make sure to leave a 3 hour window between last meal & bedtime.

Been doing OMAD for a few days now and loving it. Tried other various IF windows but was a pain. I'm not usually hungry until early afternoon so waiting a few more hours and just eating once has been sooo nice. Amazed at how much time has been freed up during the day not thinking about, prepping or eating food. Good stuff. Tracking progress, will see how I go over the next few weeks.
