Michael Bisping is making a somewhat stunning turnaround for a 38-year-old fighter who just got dropped and choked out in a UFC title fight. Just one-week after his high profile title loss, Bisping took the call to replace Anderson Silva against Kelvin Gastelum in Shanghai on November 25th. That will make just 3-weeks between bouts for a fighter who has talked about retiring sometime in the near future.

But, as Bisping told Ariel Helwani on a recent episode of the MMA Hour, he feels 100% fine physically after his recent fight. And while he was given a provisional suspension by the New York State…

Bisping says he wants to retire in London in March

Give this man what he wants! Very much deserving of an exciting and winnable match in front of the hometown crowd.

I'm on another thread arguing that there is no problem with a guy who is contemplating retirement suddenly reconsidering, but that's why context is key.

Bisping should not be thinking about a retirement fight before the Gastelum fight at all. The oddsmakers, and myself, see Kelvin winning by KO, and that means Bisping would have been stopped twice in the space of three weeks.

This is not the sport for fairytale victory parades, Bisping has taken massive damage in his career and having a meaningless fight under those circumstances would just be stupid. If he gets stopped by Kelvin, he needs to just hang up the gloves straight away.

I'm still shocked he was medically cleared. Bisping deserves the fairy tale ending but this is not like a final tour for a rock band. It's getting starched over and over and increasing the risk of CTE.

Sometimes you get to the point where you see it happening to others and think nah that aint me though

Hope he puts away Gastelum and goes out on a 2-fight win streak. The dude is a legend and totally deserves it.

Joel Romero in London. That is the fight to make. A final bully beatdown in front of his own crowd. Like he got spat out like a done piece of gum.

Damn, a lot of Bisping love here. Somebody has to be that dick. Why not me?

Bisping's probably taking the Gastelum fight cause he believes it's another easy win for him against a bloated welterweight. I seriously doubt he'd be fighting in 3 weeks if it was a true top 5 middleweight. I just don't see him coming back that quick against guys like Romero or Jacare.

In Bisping's mind, Hendo was supposed to be easy cause he was old. Meanwhile, he almost got stopped again, took an ugly beating, and got what many of us though was a gift decision. GSP was supposed to be easy cause he was a welterweight who hadn't fought in years & wasn't a finisher towards end of his reign. Then GSP knocks him on his ass & chokes Bisping to sleep.

With Gastelum, he thinks he has another easy match-up against another welterweight. This time one with diet/discipline issues. Gastelum got popped for weed, & Bisping seems to have a hard-on for weed smokers. He probably thinks it makes Gastelum mentally weak.

Bisping is sensitive and likes to project his own insecurities onto his opponents. He pushes a guy like GSP and then throws a bitch fit about GSP pushing him back. He complains that GSP wanted to fight him cause he was an easy fight, yet he's the guy who avoided most of the top contenders. He looks down on cannabis users but admits to being a heavy drinker.

I'm actually surprised that all he's said so far on Gastelum's Instagram was 'the loser buys the beer'. Let's hope that he behaves and doesn't embarrass himself again.

I really hope they give him a walk for his last fight, the dude has sacrificed so much in his career (ask his eye!). Someone fun, competitive but also a bit of a smack talker.

Maybe Rockhold
After a week of no sleep.
and missing a leg.

Seriously though. David Branch?

On the upside, both fighters went thru a fight camp preparing for someone else. So they have equal time to prepare for eachother now.. the only difference in preparation is bisping just fought and got beat up pretty badly.

From Dwayne Johnson:

“I feel like I can go again right now”.. Gracious in defeat and exctly 7 days later @bisping takes the next @ufc main event fight against Gastelum. Love his f*cking attitude. Blood, sweat, respect.

Got no problem with this......what’s the big deal?
Didn’t read anything but the tittle, but let him fight in his home country in a retirement fight.

It’s fine.

Ok, I’m done being nice to him now.
