The countdown is on.

Leaving Sydney at some stage next year, and will end up in either Toronto or Vancouver for 12mths.
Expanding my company, so the work side of things is already sorted.

*edit - most of my new Canadian clients are based in Toronto.

Will have Mrs Kiwi & 4yr old with me.
Which one is best from a pure “lifestyle” perspective for a family?

Any tips on suburbs/areas? We’ve got friends in Kitsalano(?)

For your troubles

Def Toronto. Vancouver and BC are overrun with Chinese.

Toronto is the most populated city in Canada for a reason.

I’m from Montreal but have lived in Toronto for a while.
I’d say Toronto since your business is mostly there. Nothing beats proximity.

You’re from Sydney... or the burbs of Sydney? ;) if you’re from Sydney you might find that Toronto and especially Vancouver are in the same ball park real estate wise : very expensive over inflated etc. So you might have the budget (in the millions?) to buy a piece of land. But I would say that you won’t have to live in downtown Toronto; the GTA (greater Toronto area) is quite the sprawl and you’d probably find better in the burbs in terms of housing space/costs.

But in all honesty, for quality of life I’d choose Montreal over those 2. Food culture crossroads between Europe and America.. That is if you don’t mind some french language experience (although some neighbourhood are pretty much all English)...

But yeah, you’re from Sydney so Toronto should be ok.
Let us know and good luck

I've lived in both.

If you are city-folk you will love Toronto.

If you like outdoors however there is way more to do in Vancouver. Endless opportunity for hiking, skiing, lakes, rivers, fishing etc. IMHO, BC has the best skiing in the world. Plus the Islands there are PARADISE.

Toronto is colder in winters, hotter in summers... Vancouver is more mild but has a lot of rain.

You guys find Toronto people nicer? That's interesting. I lived in BC in my younger days so maybe I'm out of touch but I always found BC people way more chill.

How far away do you mind commuting?
Do you mind spending 1m on something decent?

This was my next question
Are you more city folk or enjoy privacy
You can get privacy around Toronto, but you have to commute
Do you want a house, townhouse or condo?

I agree with this except the moving to Montreal part

Stripper says you can do anything, you nibble on her nipple, she slaps me and gets me kicked out
Fuck that city lol

I imagine communting is easier in Toronto, no? I used to take the GO train in every day, it was easy/relaxing

Skytrain can't be nearly as fast

Northern Ontario has amazing country living
Commuting will be necessary though

I live 45 minutes away from Toronto and it's getting too big

Commuting is amazing in and around toronto
Go trains ran from about 30minutes north and maybe even further so if you want to live in the suburbs and commute, you can just drive to the go station and take that and save some money with gas getting expensive

In Toronto you don't even really need a car although I find it easier having one

There are a lot of assholes in both tbh

Vancouver people seem more chill, in Toronto generally people have good manners (holding doors for people and stuff like that) and friendly
A lot of times I find in Toronto, if you'r part of the group or scene like a pot lounge people are super nice and cool with you
If you're an outsider, people tend to get annoyed with you really easily and don't have a problem letting you know

I will say austraillians don't have any problem fitting in in either city
Both are pretty diverse
I don't mean an outsider like that

I mean if somebody comes in causing problems or being an ass, you will have somebody approach you and calm you down in Toronto

Should also add
If you smoke weed, Toronto has some amazing weed and some amazing locally grown as well, on top of that the marijuana industry is absolutely booming
Vancouver has the better weed though

I might argue the industry is growing stronger currently in Toronto than Vancouver but that is mostly because Vancouver has had a larger marijuana industry longer, so the growth doesn't appear as significant

Really there's no point to this post because you can get your weed shipped from Vancouver to Toronto in a day

I have 2 ounces coming by purolator tomorrow from kelowna

Wait OP is a Aussie? In that case he should move to the US and find the nearest Indian Reservation. He can rent a trailer cheap and feel right at home.

No idea how this is even debatable unless your business is by far the priority. BJTT_Kiwi @BJTT_Kiwi when you say Vancouver do you mean right in the city or would you be in the surrounding area?

Def Toronto. Vancouver and BC are overrun with Chinese.

Don't you hate NY? I mean it has more people than FL so it must be better right?

Vancouver seems smaller but the core is only accessable with 4 bridges iirc so it gets backed up bad. Fuck traffic, live close to work if possible.
