Bottom line is, any professional fighter knows he has to minimize any and all risk of injury, so even if he is dominating a fight like Khabib was, he's always going to go for the finish, because it ends the fight sooner and minimizes his risk of possible injury.

Nah, he said he could have finished him but wanted to go 15 minutes because he had so much time off and wanted to repay his fans.
He said that to rogan, but I'm pretty sure he said otherwise in the press conference. Don't make me rewatch that boring shit to find the quote. I didn't get much sleep last night.
He could have tried different ways to finish but nobody can say for certain they would have worked. He probably believes he could have finished him with a choke or something, but I'm with lorofthepies on this one. What doesn't make sense is that a finish is the best crowd-pleaser there is, especially if it comes after a prolonged beating. So if Khabib was really concerned about that, he would have finished Barboza in the 4th or 5th round. That way the crowd would get the best of both worlds, that is, a long bloody fight AND a finish.
