Man with the way this talks he's like the Hannibal lecter of Jitz. I've got it set for when he jokingly makes fun of Joes BB.

creepy as fuck
I think it's the unsettling sly smile, unwavering stare and the just slightly too long pauses between sentences. You combine all those and even though the subject matter is complete innocuous it comes off as creepy as fuck.

People who say every sentence, no matter how obvious or basic, as if they are delivering life-changing profundity are rightly viewed with suspicion.

A case in point is his discussion of MMA being a 'transcendent' sport. He actually begins to raise an interesting discussion about how we view MMA and its 'component' disciplines, that it's not just an amalgamation of different arts, but one which builds upon and transforms them.

It's an accident of history that all these various aspects evolved to such a level before the art of (as close as we can get) pure sport fighting was developed. And this means that the developments in each individual aspect separately actually determined how MMA has evolved in a way that it wouldn't have NHB fighting always been the dominant combat sport in our culture.

Instead we get treated to cutting insight about how GSP is a good MMA wrestler because MMA wrestling is not the same as wrestling. Not only is this a blatantly obvious point, but it's the most repeated and generic one going around. Every time some dipshit makes the exact same point, they use the exact same example of GSP.

Eccentricities aside, Danaher is worth a listen. For example, he made by far the most insightful and accurate prediction of Mayweather/McGregor I saw anywhere:

"My experience of watching very good MMA athletes spar against elite boxers in the gym is always the same - they are quite competitive for the first 3-4 rounds and do surprisingly well. Then around the 5th round the elite boxer begins to figure out the unorthodox or awkward movement and begins to employ ring craft tactics to tire the MMA athlete by making him work harder than he is, making him miss punches etc etc. around the 8th round a very noticeable shift occurs where the elite boxer takes over."

I have to find time to watch this in it's entirety because I just watched 3 minutes and it is pure gold.

Sheepdog @lordofthepies hates John Danaher and won't rest until everyone knows.
I don't hate him, I'm just trying to save a few of you pajama wearing weirdos from waking up one day finding all your money gone, your wife pregnant with Danaher's child and special kool-aid being forced down your throat while you await the arrival of the alien space ship to take you to meet Xenu.

It's funny last week you compared him to Lloyd Irvin, when I asked why you'd accuse him of being some sort of sexual predator, you backed off and said that wasn't what you meant. But here we are and you're throwing shade his way again. Maybe you don't hate him, but you certainly have an extremely low opinion of him that doesn't seem to be based on any first hand information.

Love Danaher interviews....such a great grappling mind.

Combine that with his hate of hair and love/vast collection of rash guards.

The man's a legend.
