“Super” Sage Northcutt has been making waves since he was first discovered on Dana White’s Lookin’ for a Fight nearly four years ago. The 22-year-old welterweight (sometimes lightweight) golden boy alternates between receiving fan adulation and praise to hardcore criticism over his purses, which were last publicly disclosed as $60K/$60K in November 2017, following UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Pettis. That number may not seem like much, but there are plenty of fighters on the UFC roster that don’t make those figures, including the new flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo, who somehow agreed to take a pay cut in his bout against…

I'd be surprised if he left. UFC already pays him more than what he's worth because he moves Dana's needle. They'll pay up.

He's been good for ratings. The UFC pays him what he's worth in terms of the attention he brings.

This is all perceived value, sure he is a very talented kid, but has anyone ever bought a PPV because Sage Northcut was fighting?
I think Dana will throw money at him because he is not a bright man and sees dollars signs in the prospect of an “All American Boy” champ.
I think the UFC like always saw quick money, pushed this kid too fast and really hurt his career. He needed to develop in a lesser promotion and away from the spotlight. Kid is 22 and has 8 fights in the UFC. He’s likely 6 years away from his prime.

He's everything you never were and you're jealous.

I think he’s headed to Bellator. They aren’t gonna pay him top tier money when he’s not close to fighting for a belt. He’s still very young and could get some experience in Bellator them come back.

It's not just about direct ratings for a fight. Sage has 738k instagram followers. That's an even wider net if you think of people reposting things to their own followers etc. He's worth a lot in terms of keeping the UFC brand and their sponsors in public consciousness. Sage at UFC Gym openings and other appearances is meaningful as well. They'll find a way to take your money even if you're not watching a fight.

His last fight was at WW. Look at the tournament Bellator set up and tell me who Sage would do well against.

I’m not claiming he would challenge for a belt in Bellator either. I’m claiming he is young and will get experience in Bellator and Bellator will be willing to pay him more than the UFC. He may have belts in both organizations at some point, but it won’t be in the next couple of years.

Bellator is where UFC fighters go when they're too old, not when they're too young...

I’d pay him 100k a year to be my cabana boy.

If I had 100k.

Or a cabana.
