It's amazing that people get offended because I'm not a Trump basher. Well guess what? I'm not the only person of color that likes what's been happening since Trump became president. Black does not equal Democrat.

Wait wait wait...

You mean that I've been gargling Trump's nuts for the past 2 years when I could have chosen otherwise?

You're just playing with me, aren't you?

what none of the lefties want to touch this one?
Here's the thing..... It's not left, it's not right... It's not conservatives, it's not liberals..... It's Americans.... We're ALL (those of us who are) Americans... And the beauty is that we're entitled to our different opinions, our diversity, our different ideas. Where it gets fucked is when the douchebags on BOTH sides start acting like extremist assholes, that stokes the flames of anger and hatred in this country.

Darqnezz @Darqnezz is an awesome guy, if he's a Trump supporter, it's ok, because he's never been an asshole about it, and there are others that way here too.. I'm not a supporter of Donald Trump for many reasons dating back to before his political career, and I have no issues with those members (and others in my community that are respectful)... And that's the key, don't be a dick and keep lines of communication open and civil.

Unfortunately there are many on this site in particular, who fall into that extremist side of Trump support, who say things that are extremely fucked up and disrespectful, and who tip toe on racism (this fact I know contributed to a well known member leaving a while back, and set me off on a couple of pricks here on this site I have on ignore, and better pray that I never meet them in person)...... I digress, the whole point is IF respectfully presented, ALL opinions are welcomed, that's what actually makes America great in my opinion

Both political parties are rich white guys getting richer by making it seem like ordinary people matter.
There are over 200 million registered voters but only 2 political parties that are ballot-qualified political in every state.

This is the main problem. Not all opinions are welcomed. Today, If you don't agree with the masses you're shouted down, called names, or even attacked. It's a shame that folks are afraid to debate and defend their positions.

It's not worth dealing with the vitriol and accusations.
If I know the person can have a calm conversation I'm happy to have a political discussion with them. But that's pretty rare.

So I usually just stay quiet, let my vote do the talking and see what shakes out.

It baffles my mind that people get so upset about political affiliations that they will refuse to talk to one another. It’s got to the point where people are so scared of the consequences that they will not voice their opinions because it may cause them to be ridiculed or shunned by others who don’t share their views.

What the fuck happened to everyone?

Dave Chapelle got it right years ago.

“White people do not like to talk about their political affiliations. It's a secret. You ask a white guy who's he votin' for, like, "Hey, Bob, who you gonna vote for?" "Dave! Dave! Whoa, whoa, whoa! Take it easy. So I was fuckin' my wife in her ass, right? And let me tell you, it was something else." "Yeah, yeah, but who are you gonna vote for?" "Dave! Dave, come on with the voting! I'm trying to tell you about fucking my wife in the ass, and you're asking me all these personal questions."

The only thing he got wrong is that it’s not just white people anymore.

I find it utterly obscene the way the general public believes the way it’s acceptable to act toward someone who has a differing opinion than their own.

Black, white, brown, yellow, who fucking cares? Free speech should not come with an asterisk beside it.

In the first paragraph, you make an impassioned statement, claiming that “everyone is entitled to our different opinions, our diversity, our different ideas”. You claim that this is beautiful. Immediately after that, you talk out of the other side of your mouth and disqualify the statement by saying that “douchebags on both sides act like extremist assholes that stoke the flames of anger and hatred in this country.”

You used the second paragraph to qualify your views to explain yourself, but then go on to limit discourse to only statements that you feel are respectful (your view of “respectful” is shaped by your own ethnocentrism)

In the third paragraph, you go on to throw out a thinly veiled threat to people that have offended you saying they “better pray that I never meet them in person“. Immediately after that, you then claim that all opinions are welcomed if respectfully presented.

Do you feel that my summary is accurate? From my point of view there are some glaring inconsistencies in your logic. You want people to be respectful and not act like extremist assholes, yet you imply that people you would harm people that offend you.

The idea of Freedom of Speech isn’t to protect “respectful” discourse. By its very nature, “respectful” discourse doesn’t need protection. Freedom of Speech is there to protect ALL ideas, no matter how reprehensible you feel that it may be. Besides, enabling assholes to spew their diatribe enables us to identify them.

I posted this video earlier today in a different thread. It has some relevance here too. Read the lyrics to bodycount’s debut album. It would be considered hate speech when viewed through a modern lens.

(Ultimately, I hope that I haven’t offended you, as I would hate to make your ignore/kill list)

People may even change their mind, God forbid. We're not supposed to discuss or alter our opinions, we're supposed to be devided and partake in shouting matches. That is how we are controlled best, when the common enemy is the other half of the country, and we play these roles well. I prefer discussion though.

That was not a good podcast, in my opinion he came off as I’ll prepared and unfocused. He has lots of interesting ideas but no idea how to implement them or deal with the issues that they will inevitably cause.

really? he had some incredibly well-detailed and thought-out plans for education, violence, poverty, etc.

Rogan asks how do you plan on fixing the education system and violence at schools, Larry's response:

As an outsider (white guy), I just find it sad when I see black people getting harassed and labelled as race traitors and Uncle Toms because they don't say the "right" things or have the "right" beliefs. I thought it was very telling when Kanye posted those texts he received from John Legend and other people where the gist was "I realize you have these beliefs but you better shut up about them or else everyone is going to turn their back on you."
