Trying to help this along since Ken's my all time favorite fighter. I'm not a huge fan of snowden, but he's helping Ken so I want to help him.
There was no money in fighting in the early days, and those who are most stable now either owned gyms or got into a more stable/normal line of work. I would have thought his wrestling contract would have set him up nicely though. I don't know if his contact was similar to tank, but tank said his wrestling contract set him up so he could just live off the interest for the rest of his life (hard to believe unless he is a man of simple means, but that's what he said).Ken has had one helluva career and will always be a part of UFC history for his role in the early days ..Ken, Kimo, Severn,Fry...and of course Royce.
What ever happened to the Lions Den - as MMA grew in the late 90’s early 2000’s you’d think that would have been a premier MMA gym ..one that would be going strong today with Shammy being the owner...but instead it just faded away ...
Also did Ken make some major bad financial moves over the years? To be broke looking for fights against amateurs at his age now is pretty sad to see.
Might be totally off but I think I recall his wwe contract being something like 400k a year. There was no money in fighting in the early days, and those who are most stable now either owned gyms or got into a more stable/normal line of work. Looks like tank didn't earn too much either (about 700k total). No idea how he thinks he could live off interest on that money. Federal and state taxes knocks that down considerably, so initial investment funds would be at $400k approx. That's $20k a year (before taxes) on 5% interest.Might be totally off but I think I recall his wwe contract being something like 400k a year.
For some reason I get the vibe Tank isn't really a financial kinda guy.Looks like tank didn't earn too much either (about 700k total). No idea how he thinks he could live off interest on that money. He doesn't come across as 8ntelligent across the board, but graduated with a degree in history of all things. This love of history probably led to his naming his Adolf. For some reason I get the vibe Tank isn't really a financial kinda guy.
they waived it.I think Ken still owes Zuffa money from a lawsuit
You are lucky he diddnt throw your ass off the 52nd floor balcony tbh. Can't be asking Ken bout that shit.I only ever got to meet Ken once and that was at Randy Couture's hotel room after UFC 52.
Ken didn't say much but I did chat with him a bit.
I asked him about his plans after fighting and he spoke about having his own promotion and a chain of gyms as some of his thoughts but he didn't elaborate much.
He did not know me so I can't imagine he would be very open with someone he just met.
He wasn't super chatty but was more like a guy who was at a party but didn't know anyone and wasn't very social. Not in a bad way, just a quiet guy at a party. You are lucky he diddnt throw your ass off the 52nd floor balcony tbh. Can't be asking Ken bout that shit.
