They're a great amp that gives you that Marshall sound but i think their biggest downfall Is they lack in a clean tone which @sparkuri is looking for.I've been looking at those. Great Brit sound.
I have one as a selection on my amp simulator on my computer (AmpliTube). It has a very cool sound.
I don't have an amp actually. I plug my bass into my PS4 and use Rocksmith as my equipment. In addition to having it teach you how to play songs it also has thousands of dollars worth of virtual gear you can set up anyway you like. As long as your TV has an okay sound system there's no reason to go out and buy a whole bunch of stuff.I finally have an electric guitar, my first.
I hate practicing on my acoustic because it damages my sensitive fingers.
I want my guitar to sound like Metallica as well as normal.
What do I need?
Do amps have distortion settings?
Do I need a pedal?
I'm shooting for middle class territory; In other words I want to adapt to it, not outgrow it in 6 months
@Passive Jay , anyone? chime in.
It's a Washburn with 4 knobs
That looks good man. Gives you some of the main effects to play around with. And like Shats said, you can always add in pedals if you want something more.
You'd be surprised how many guys are going into large venues and even arenas with small 15-25 watt amps, and just putting a mic on them..... I know a guitarist who used a Vox AC10 as his amp that was staged over in guitar world by his tech, but on the deck he had 5 (empty) Marshall cabinets to have that "wall of sound" look, but his actual amp was "play a small jazz club" sizeI’ve onlw ever played acoustic, but have been wanting an electric. I was thinking about getting one of these (Yamaha THR10), kind of similar to above but smaller. Has a good amount of built in effects and options. It’s a smaller 10watt amp. Plenty loud for around the house, but wouldn’t be enough on stage.
I haven’t actually used one, so can’t comment there. Maybe @Rhino or someone else can chime in. I liked the versatility of this little Yamaha though.

I have. If you call them and speak to a sales rep you can talk them down in price even more. Always well-packed with a little bag of candy in the box.Ever bought a guitar off them? I'm getting a Tele. I've already played them so I know I like the feel, but SW's prices are better than what I'm seeing at the local shops. I'm a little apprehensive about having a guitar shipped to my house.
What kind of candy?I have. If you call them and speak to a sales rep you can talk them down in price even more. Always well-packed with a little bag of candy in the box.
Literally a handful or random candy in a bag. Mostly grandma candy, like tootsie rolls and bit-o-honey, but it's still a nice gesture. What kind of candy?
This could be the dealbreaker...
In that case, get a baby Marshall amp and mic the shit out of it.You'd be surprised how many guys are going into large venues and even arenas with small 15-25 watt amps, and just putting a mic on them..... my best friend's brother is one of the best sound guys in the world, used to work at Genz Benz Amplifiers - Guitar Amplification, Acoustic Amplification, Bass Amplification, Guitar Enclosures, Bass Enclosures & More, still knows the owner. Budget?I don't play regularly, perhaps every few months. It's a tough acoustic and things get in the way of growth, so I'm still 20yo musically, self-taught etc.
The electric allows me much more playing time to build up callouses but also feel encouraged to jam
A lot of good info in here.my best friend's brother is one of the best sound guys in the world, used to work at Genz Benz Amplifiers - Guitar Amplification, Acoustic Amplification, Bass Amplification, Guitar Enclosures, Bass Enclosures & More, still knows the owner. Budget?
EDIT- and my cousin is an excellent guitar player, finalist for a Jimi Hendrix Scholarship, I sent him a text.
Methanphetamines have done lots of good for lots of people. At my friend's old apartment complex, there were a couple of tweekers who would clean his apartment for $20. So we'd put anything of value in his room, shut the door and let the tweekers go to town. That place was spotless. Also got a smoking deal on an airbrush from a graphic arts student who decided to switch majors to Pussy & Meth Studies.A lot of good info in here.
I think I've gotta stay practical, like $200 or under.
There's tons on offerup & craigslist for all the failed 20 & 30 somethings that had to get real jobs.
Plus I know a few crackheads, which is a wonderful resource
I meant to post this last night. My son has a V2 and it has a lot of cool features for the price point. You'd be surprised how many guys are going into large venues and even arenas with small 15-25 watt amps, and just putting a mic on them..... That's a beautiful family you have there man. I'm exhausted with a toddler at 30, i can only imagine at 40.Congratulations brother. There are a few members having kids soon though I won’t out them here.
My kids are 10 years apart and we had our daughter at 40 (and though I love her to death, kids at 40 is not something I’d recommend). She’s a cute little hellion and gets away with more than she should because of it. Here’s a pic of her today with my mom.
The doctor told us she’ll be over 6 feet (just like her dad, much to my sons dismay) and I believe it. She’s only a year and a half and is already bigger than kindergarten kids at my sons school. I don’t have a picture with a banana for reference but here’s her with my wife and son.
I hope everything is going awesome with the pregnancy and good luck with getting any rest (and going to band practice) in the foreseeable future.
I'm 43. My kids are 5,3, and 1. I'm also a full-time graduate student, doing my thesis this term, and have a full time job. That's a beautiful family you have there man. I'm exhausted with a toddler at 30, i can only imagine at 40.
One of ny old band mates just picked up this custom 612 guitar cabGet a Marshall half stack.
That way you can just add on to your rig when you make it big

No Rest for the weary, and Hard Work for the exhausted.

Yikes. I've lucked out on that. May need to do a new gear thread. Also, beware of bed bugs and lice when buying used guitar amps on craigslist.
