I think that they're really happy either way in these situations. Either they give a new guy a great scalp and can promote them easier or crowd favorite and company man Cowboy puts on a show. It's a great spot for a promoter to be in.

They're still selling and airing commercials on the streaming broadcast and maybe they get 100k(or more) people to sign up for ESPN+ just to watch this. Then they can start charging a bit more to advertisers based on a growing customer base and they get the added, constant, revenue from the subscriptions.
