Yeah. Just all the radio broadcasts.
The MLB TV doesn't work for local broadcasts (stupid). But for an out-of-town fan, $120 for the season is a great deal. I thought about getting it just so I can watch another game while I'm watching the Reds.
I am put of market for the Cards plus my Uncle will ne able to use it as well. And I can always peek in on Brewers games to see what Front Row Amy is wearing.

I’m back in AL East hell. The Jays are rebuilding and the Yankees and Red Sox are stacked. The two most obnoxious fan bases in baseball beating up on us 40 times this year.

I didn't use to mind the Red Sox. But their fans are also Patriots fans.

I never thought I'd say this, but I hope they lose to the Yankees

spring training is coming up in AZ I went last year to tempe diablo stadium. every seat is great. this year I will try to go to the other stadiums in Scottsdale, peoria, goodyear,AZ. the access you get to the players is pretty nuts. I was like a foot away and legends show up too like eric karros did last year at tempe.

I've been wanting to spend a week out there but my wife isn't a huge baseball fan. She'd rather work than spend a week going to different ballparks. Best I might be able to swing is a guys trip for a long weekend. One of these years I'll do it.

I usually go for 2 or 3 days it is a short drive or plane trip for me. most of the stadiums are close to each other like both scottsdale stadiums, mesa, tempe, I think glendale has one. maybe the stadiums in surprise and goodyear are the farthest away.

edit:
you can also look at chase field from this tgi fridays for free it has a view I went there.

We used to have spring training facilities in south FL. The Orioles trained here. Fun times

This.

The difference between a Spring Training park and a regular-season MLB park is like night and day in terms of access. Also, the players are in a much better mood because the 162-game grind hasn't started yet, so interaction is usually very friendly. At some parks, the back fields where the B games and MiLB games are played are 100% wide open like going to a little league game...except that the starting pitcher might be Clayton Kershaw and the guy batting cleanup might be Jose Abreu.

I'll make a plug for MiLB games as well. Most of the players are young guys who haven't sniffed the majors (yet), so they're relatively down to earth. Plus, you can occasionally meet a MLB player on a rehab assignment or a former MLB player who is now a coach. For example, we went to an A-ball game last year where the home team clinched first place. We coincidentally were sitting with the manager's family and got to meet him. Later, we were allowed onto the field while the team celebrated. The manager was Omar Vizquel.

Harper and Machado still unsigned.

My sources are telling me the Padres might be in the running.

Predictions:
Harper to Phillies
Machado to Giants

Random stat from 2018:

Michael Brantley (CLE) made contact on 90.9% of the pitches he took a swing at. Best in MLB.

MLB will be using a 20 second pitch clock for all preseason games this year, and they have not ruled out the possibility of implementing the clock during the regular season. The players are not in favor of it, and there won't immediately be a punishment for going over the allotted time.

A pitch clock has been used in the minors since 2015. If the ball isn't pitched within 20 seconds, the batter is awarded a ball.

The beginning of baseball season always excities me. Then I'm bored by June. My Astros must be relevant to hold my attention.

Didnt they have a 30 second clock the last few years?

It was proposed. Never activated.

20 seconds is for the pitcher.
I think 30 seconds was the proposed time between batters.

For 2018 the players agreed to make a "conscience effort" to speed the game up. If they were successful, the league would stop pushing the clock. Since it's still being pushed, I'm guessing the games were still too long.

I sort of enjoy when I'm listening to a game with a slow pitcher. Marty Brennamen fucking ROASTS them. I still remembering him call Zack Greinke "The Human Rain Delay".

Padres just signed Machado.
10 year. $300 million.

Sportsbooks moved their o/u win total from 76.5 to 79.5

World Series odds from 80-1 to 50-1

2018 RBI leader for SD: Eric Hosmer with 69.
HR leader for SD: Hunter Renfroe with 26.

Over the last 4 years, Machado averaged 35.5 HR and 96 RBI.

Hosmer is good when he can be in the set up role. He punches alot of singles.

Padres are going after Harper now.
Haha. That would be awesome.
Personally, I wouldn't want to be tied to either guy for 10 years, but it would be funny if they both ended up in San Diego.

So it took all this time and in the end he signed to a 2000's style 10 years deal?? Doesn't make any sense but then again I'm not following it closely. Just thought these massive contracts were a thing of the past.
