Oh fucking shit!

Top three favourite fighters ever but none of that matters now. I hope he’s okay and can live a great and healthy life.

The "cemetery kick" gave us many classic MMA moments. Well wishes to Cro Cop in retirement.

I hope there's truth to this tweet:

he is the reason I get butt massages.
That is great, he has influenced so many
I also learned southpaw cause of Mirko...If I got into a fight I would probably be in southpaw

That's sad to hear, but I'm glad he'll be okay. He just beat Nelson the other day, it seems like. Of the holy trinity of him, Fedor, and Nog, he had the best end to his career.

From article today in Croatia Week:

“I had a stroke and had bleeding on the brain. I got out of the hospital today and that’s why I wanted to come here to show people I feel good, I had incredible luck with the stroke, the leak could have gone left and right. I had a vein discomfort, it burst from mechanical stimulus. This had nothing to do with fighting, just the neck was overloaded. I have to fight for my life now,” he said in the news studio.

He has been the smartest one of the bunch.
Jumps early to the UFC for an incredible sum of money.
Then just to get released to go get some money fights in Japan. At a time that the UFC was fighting with Jon Fitch about Universal likeness rights.
Goes back to the UFC to avenge his loss.
Goes back to Japan for more money and goes on a fun five-year winning streak.
Last fight in bellator avenges a previous loss.

He could never really put it together in the octagon as the New breed was coming and the changes from the ring really don't favor his style. But it didn't matter.

Hell of a career on top and didn't really fade out sadly...even with the skills diminished. Took appropriate fun fights that I was always happy to tune in and see.

I'd like to see more of these older guys just take their fun retirement fights in an exhibition type of way. I don't need them fighting for the belt. Just get some competition that keeps me excited.
