Out today.

Little synopsis:

IGN describes the series as containing "buckets of gore, copious nudity (both male and female), and elaborate violence." In its review of six episodes, Observer wrote that viewers may find this violence and nudity "gratuitous and off-putting."

Based on reviews, a couple of the more possibly frightening episodes to prepare for are "Secret War" and "Sonnie's Edge." According to Netflix, "Secret War" is about an army fighting "an unholy evil deep in the ancient forests of Siberia." And Observer noted that "Sonnie's Edge" contains "over-the-top brutality" in its portrayal of monster gladiator fights. IndieWire even said you'll be left cringing at the fight sequences.

Netflix
Birth.Death.Movies also made "The Witness" sound particularly unnerving since it's about a woman who witnesses a woman who looks like her being murdered — and then the killer comes for her. This is one of the episodes with gratuitous nudity and IGN noted it has the style of a Marilyn Manson music video. So that gives you a little insight into the type of freaky that the episode will be.

If You're Into "Buckets Of Gore," You'll Love David Fincher's New Animated Netflix Series

Anyone been watching this? I’ve watched 5 episodes so far and they’ve all been good.

Bonus, I had no idea that two of the episodes were based off Alastair Reynolds short stories. He writes incredible hard science fiction ( Dat Pre-HollyHolm Ronda $ @Dat Pre-HollyHolm Ronda $ get in here) and I’ve been reading his stuff for almost 20 years.

Binged the first half last night in one of my insomniac episodes.

Quite interesting and thought provoking stories. Especially in my tired state.

The animation is beautiful.

And the Three Robots one was wonderfully dark and humorous.

Just what I'm into.

Thanks for the heads up Onetrickpony @Onetrickpony

Gonna finish the rest of the series tonight.

Had a lot of nudity period. I’m not really down with sex scenes in regular movies let alone lost space couriers fucking mind controlling spiders.

Was a great season though. Hope they make another.

Was it some caveat of the show that they had to put copious nudity and gore in every episode?

Why??

Why not just tell good stories, why the need to inject them with negative and hardcore imagery?

I've been advocating to take animation past the Disney/Dreamworks cookie-cutter model for decades, but this seems to be counter-productive. The stories may be good and all the original styles of animation are absolutely beautiful to watch, I just think they shot themselves a bit in the foot by forcing all the films to be X rated. If they had got the same talent to make films outside this box and just make the best they could make, I'd bet they would be remembered longer, get more praise, more beautiful work overall.

Lotsa kids browsing netflix for cartoons etc. Like that Sausage Party movie, I find it irresponsible, like a dude peddling porn at a playground

Fuckin Netflix. They have quality stuff but the overall content curating is becoming really questionable just what they are pushing

the sex and nudity was even gratuitous by my low standards as a scumbag degenerate.
