I met an interesting guy over Thanksgiving. He's a world traveler and author. Mostly nature books, sea creatures etc etc. He got into drones for his books and lectures. He is booked year round for lectures. I think he said he had $6000 into one drone. He got so good with the drone, production companies from even Japan have hired him to do drone work. He kind of fell into this just doing his own stuff. Really cool guy to talk to.

I just saw one of them dji things for the first time at the tv store. I had no idea they were so little. And expensive.

I wanna get one of them ones that cost 20 bucks at the mall to get the hang of it before I'd shell out real coin

I think if I get one I will go quality and end up doing it for a job...I fear I will become addicted to droning

Droning days are over eh?

At the time i had the disposable income to buy onebut i never felt comfortable flying it, despite the safeguards I could not stop imagining a large sum of money just flying away. so when someone offered me close to what i had paid for it I took it.

wise move...few things you can try out and then sell at a small loss

I get addicted to stuff and I will end up spending a lot of time droning if I get started....Used to be addicted to cheap remote control airplanes

Might be fun to hike out and take shots of remote areas...I am definitely considering getting into drones

Def concerned about losing one though

despite my fears I did some pretty over the top things with it.

Like overriding the 400ft height restriction.. by a lot...

or flying it out as far as it would go to see if the "return to home" safeguard would bring it back when I lost signal.

so they are pretty idiot proof, I am just the worrying type

4+ mile flying distance, so I might just try that range straight up.
