Even before he made his debut earlier this month, Ben Askren has already been calling for a 165-pound division in the UFC. And as time passes, “Funky” remains fervent in the belief that it will happen sooner than later.

Askren was a guest fighter at UFC London over the weekend, where he had a chance to speak with the media about his thoughts on a 165-pound title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“If there’s some way I could make that happen next, I would make it happen … I don’t think I can, right? I think I’m like one or two fights away from that happening,” Askren said.

I wanna say Ben's trolling about this 165 lb division, but I watched an interview he did & he does seem convinced it's going to happen. His theory is, Dana's been so vocal that it won't happen, that it will happen lol.

Do not want more weight classes
I always felt this way too, but I have come around on adding 165 ("if" they move welterweight to 175) and super HW divisions. There are just so many guys who fight depleted at 155 or are too small to really content at WW.

Yeah, The uFc needs 165 and super heavyweight.

I personally want to see Askren Vs Khabib just to see all the butt hurt from dagestan when Ben bulldog chokes that chump.

There used to be this thing called "Franklinweight", where guys would simply agree to fight at 195 - against Rich Franklin :D

Maybe they can try that concept again and just schedule some fights there (Edit: at 165, I meant), Cowboy vs. Masvidal would have been a nice showcase for example. Or Askren vs. Kevin Lee.

... but I also enjoyed the "Golden Cup of TRT Deatchmatch" where they let Vitor and Dan Henderson fight on TRT...in Brazil! They should go back to that, as well... Almost unofficially happened with Yoel vs. Costa, though. Bummer :D

It's solid logic - can't fault it.

I’d be fine with 165, 175, 185, 195, 205, and everything after that with no weight limit.

There is no reason to have a super heavyweight division. It would be like the 145 lbs women’s class.

That being said I think the 265 weight limit needs to go.

I can’t be bothered watching guys below lightweight. Muay Thai is a bit different, white boys starving themselves isn
