“The UFC wants [Lesnar] back, as of right now he wants to be back, they’re giving him a heavyweight title fight if he comes back,” ESPN reporter Ariel Helwani said on SportsCenter. “Daniel Cormier, the heavyweight champion, wants to fight him. Right now, the plan is for them to fight in August, later this summer, for that heavyweight championship. It’s not signed just yet, but that’s currently the plan.”

Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Cormier not signed, but current plan is UFC title fight in August

So the winner of JDS/Ngannou gets the winner of Brock/Cormier? But what if Brock wins the title? He's not sticking around in the UFC, right? And what if Jon Jones moves up to HW, does he automatically get the trilogy fight with Cormier after DC takes on Lesnar?

Enjoy the ride, fellas!

I think what they're doing to the HW division is ridiculous.... Stipe should have gotten a rematch. That said, it's a business to put on the biggest fights, and even though Stipe has beaten both JDS and Ngannou, he's been the "least active" of that trio, so here's how I'd book HW....

Brock vs DC (I think DC gets this one)
Ngannou vs JDS (Number 1 contender, and I think JDS may pull off the upset here)
Stipe vs JBJ for his HW debut (winner fights the Brock/DC-Ngannou/JDS winner for the title)
Oleinik vs Overeem (meh, should have been Cain, that ship may have sailed)
Lewis vs Cain (probably the last winnable fight for Cain)
Blaydes vs Volkov (a big win from either can throw them into the title picture with as thin and injury prone HW is).

Not bad, but my only gripe is that this requires DC to fight three more times, with the first one not being until August. Maybe turn around in November- December and if healthy fight Jones in March-May of 2020? That's a lot of miles on a guy who wanted to retire last month.

Do DC and Brock in August, and in the likely event that DC wins, if Jon wants next, and DC wants it, book that shit immediately imo.

Why do you think Stipe deserved a rematch? I'm assuming you mean the rematch should've happened asap.

I honestly don't think Brock will be held to Usada standards
probably get the jones treatment and have some sort of loophole invented
if he comes in and 'pulses' from the beginning, can't they just say it's not providing a performance benefit?
That's basically what they did with Juicy...don't test him for 6 months, and then say he was clean when they weren't testing him.

I did mean rematch.... He did have the record for HW title defenses, and in a time of PR madness, he was a bright spot for the UFC, it would have been solid business, plus he'd taken out everyone in his division. It was a super fight, and I feel like you can run back those as many times as possible.

On this new ESPN deal (and with the rumored possibility that ESPN/Disney may want to purchase the UFC outright), I can see him wanting to stick around another year.

He's got Brock in the pipeline already (and while I 100% agree with Atto @Atto that anything can happen in a fight, we all know DC is HEAVILY favored). Truthfully I don't see him taking that much damage in that fight. I would favor DC against both Ngannou and JDS at this point, not that he can't lose or get hurt against them, but his wrestling is what I see being the determining factor. I see a quick turnaround after Brock against the winner of JDS/Ngannou, and a more traditional turnaround going into either JBJ 3 or Stipe 2.

And the end writes itself...
DC loses to Brock- Do JBJ 3 and retire

DC beats Brock but loses to JDS/Ngannou winner- Do JBJ 3 and retire

DC beats Brock, then wins/loses against JDS/Ngannou, and JBJ loses to Stipe- Fight JBJ 3 and retire, and UFC do a HW tournament between whoever is the top 4 guys.

DC beats Brock, JDS/Ngannou, and JBJ beats Stipe- Biggest trilogy finale EVER!!!

I like literally every option here. Haha it all hangs on whether or not DC wants to fight three more times.
