Absolutely.
I meant if it was parked in a safe garage, aka faraday cage, at least one could manufacture biodiesel; no dice on a gas vehicle.
Anything early-mid-70's is fucked without protection.
not to be a dick, but there's no such thing as a Faraday cage...it's a pet peeve of mine. A Faraday cage is a concept, it's infinitely large sheets of a perfect conductor on all faces. As soon as you're constrained to geometry, waves can propagate through the 'cage'. Screen Room (mesh) or Shield Room (solid) are better descriptors.
And the smaller you make the box, the harder it is to effectively shield at higher frequencies. Of course, the bigger you make the box, the harder it is to make a door that seals. But if you want to buy a used screen room, I can put you in touch with a guy who can get you a 10' X 12' X 8' for < $15k. Best solution is:
1) Don't vote for war-mongering politicians who want to line their pockets in the name of policing the world
2) Put spare electronic parts for your water purifier, car, GPS, etc in a shielded blanket and put that in a small shield box.
3) And don't take anything out until well after the event, ion dispersion can also ruin electronics
