Not sure if retarded or cocky. I think that was supposed to showcase how far Arya has come with her training the Walkers heard her pass by, the Night King caught her by the cock holster mid-flight, but she’s just meant to be this bad ass assassin now.
she must have grown by leaps and bounds in the intervening 10m between barely escaping the Library with half a dozen wights sniffing her out, and dropping out of the sky in the Godswood, behind the Night King, surrounded by White Walkers.

it just seemed like very lazy writing, and a very Disney ending.

Add in the fact that they literally were trying to kill him already, hence Theon having to protect him. If it needed to be the Night King killing him, they could've just even had Bran say something like "he needs to kill me personally, because, uh, let's go with...it's been foretold in some gay prophecy, maybe? That'll do." Fucking just something, anything.

It's weird how so many dorks' only problem is Arya killing the zombie king, when that in itself is perfectly legitimate based upon what's been established - that she is the ultimate assassin. Silly, but explainable. They just could have had an actual reason for the Night King to put himself in danger.
If Bran was half the wheelchair wizard he claims to be then he would've thought of this

Another reason the whole thing is retarded: he's immune to dragon fire and can only be killed by Valyrian steel. And the reason that only Valyrian Steel and Dragon Glass can kill White Walkers is because they are made with...dragon fire.

Confirmed survivors for episode 4 (at what looks like a mass funeral pyre):

Why the hell was night king after him. I have forgotten.
Bran explains it in episode 2. All the Night King wants is a long night, for all memory of their world to disappear. And Bran is the official record keeper of anything that has ever happened.

It fucking sucked...Story is everything and they are serving up dead dick writing

CGI was amazing but CGI is a cop out most of the time...spend more money/time on story and less on computer graphics

Glad some folks think it was/is a home run of a show still...not doing it for me anymore

Saul Good tho...the nerds seem to be appeased
I thought they did a really good job of handling the ebb and flow of the battle, switching from the CGI-awe of the macro-battle, and advancing the storylines of the individual characters with lulls action.

but the Night King is this uber-powerful adversary who's 3 steps ahead of the living. Until the living roll out a shit strategy, fuck it up at every step of the way, but Night King goes full retard.

And I could buy the full-retard Night King if they'd done ANY development of his motivation or personal arc. But they keep teasing it, like there's a meaningful back story which explains why he's doing what he's doing...until they skip over that part and make him a moron.

He speared a fucking dragon in flight from a half-mile away, but then stands there for 2 minutes, 50' in front of a dragon twice that size and fucking whiffs during take-off.

The Tactics of the Battle were no Bueno on both sides

Maybe they are gonna explain the NK in some spinoff show or something but whatever his deal was is still pretty unclear and him dying in dumbass fashion is a cheap way to end that storyline IMO

Sorry for offending folks that nutted continuously through the entire episode but some of us have a few problems with some parts of the EP and Season so far

Someone wrote about how much the show changed once the source material was used up. I agree completely. I’ve been just seeing this through for a while now.
