Disgraced former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw has spoken in an interview for the first time since being served with a two-year ban after testing positive for EPO.

Dillashaw relinquished his bantamweight title in March after USADA found “adverse findings” in a test stemming from his January loss to Henry Cejudo. It was later confirmed the finding was EPO, and Dillashaw was handed a two-year ban from USADA.

Talking to ESPN about the failed drug test, Dillashaw said he only did EPO to cut weight for the fight.

“I’m not mad I did it, because I don’t think I could have taken the fight,” Dillashaw said. “I’m obviously gonna own up that I cheated, I got…

I can't believe these guys admit to anything. Such a dumb move. No one has gotten a fair deal from the UFC/USADA by being honest. They need to lie lie lie and fight the testing. The USADA has already proven they have little to no idea what they are doing or how the tests/drugs work...

Its refreshing to hear a man own up to his wrong doings.

With that said it is sad, he talks about his son, he is hiding in that justification a bit.

The same way he is hiding behind his low red blood cell count, like it justifies his cheating.

What is sadder is the fact that the best MMAist on the planet it a proven drug cheat, liar, sociopath and scum bag.

Ah well..... sure the most popular MMAist is a rapist.

Things are going well

I think somebody told him that admitting anything was a horrible move for his image and brand

So now he is starting to give reasons for the usage

If you admit nothing the UFC can pull strings and lawyers and commissions can do the corruption/favortism thing

Here's the thing, his entire justification story runs counter to every single thing he said in the lead up and aftermath of the fight.

Joe Rogan: I saw you the day before the fight and you looked awful.
TJ: Naw, man. My science, wizard trainer had me on point. I felt like a million bucks.

This isn't him owning up, this is him trying to make sure he has a soft landing.

How dare you talk about GSP that way, or accuse Brock of being a rapist.

Look man, most of these fuckers wont own up to any wrong doing, T.J is trying dammit. Hes no Chael but hes trying.

I forgot to say active...... but in my opinion Jones is getting close to GSP for the best to step in the octagon, hes a cheating bastard though, a cold calculating, skilled cheating bastard.

I really wish Jones wasn't such a piece shit, shame.

Brock more popular than McMouthpiece, don't be silly, that old man hasn't a patch when it comes to selling tickets.

His paper thin resume and repeated PED use exclude him from the GOAT conversation.

Conor didn't "pass" Brock's ppv numbers until they *cough cough* "revised" how they calculate PPV sales and lopped some off from Brock's record.

I can't argue with you there, I don't want to say Jones is the best, hes a cheating bastard, he had the benefit of timing too. GSPs resume is way more impressive.

Yeah but if you line them up right now McGregor has the buys. Brock is an old man, far removed from the average MMA fans radar. Who do you match him up against that would out sell McGregor vs any of the top 5 at LW.

Brock took 15 years off, came back for UFC 200, where the main event fell apart (Thanks JBJ) and still dragged it kicking and screaming over a million buys. If you give it a 12 month lead up (like Conor gets for his fights) Brock v Ngannou might sell 8 million buys.

People also seem to forget that Conor benefits from very strong cards and close to 10 years of the sports growth since Brock sold 1.6 million a UFC 100.

You are out of your mind if you think Brock's drawing power is anywhere near Conor's

This is all true and if we had some sort of machine to spawn a new, prime Brock and unleash him on the HW division you'd be right.

However HW is dead as fuck, the D.C fight ain't that interesting.

You put Conor in there against Khabib again and it easily out sells anything they can do with Brock in 2019

Maybe.

Ultimately we'll never find out because Vince has deeper pockets.
Fuck man, its all a theory, we may never find out about fuckin any of it.

Again I can't argue with you, its about value at the end of the day, feeds back into what I'm saying though, WME don't think hes worth the bread, and at 41 I don't disagree.

That's not necessarily true. The UFC has proven time and time again that they don't want big stars. Big stars have leverage and say things like "I also want to be able to do Pro Wrestling and I want money up front or you can go fuck yourself." Make no mistake, Conor makes a fuck ton of money, but if anyone think he's doing it on his term they're out of their minds.

dur dur err... really TJ!!? if your body is telling you you shouldn't cut anymore weight maybe that weight class isn't right for you in the first place.

Mighty Mouse was right when he avoided TJ, obviously he couldn't have made 125 without cheating.

when I'm looking for a good ol' fashioned Brock vs. Conor argument, I look for a TJ Dillashaw insincere EPO apology thread, and this one didn't disappoint!

Fighting is the toughest sport in the world on the body. Nothing else comes close. I don't begrudge fighters trying to get away with things that will help their injuries, get them through a weight cut or have them at their best. IMO, the SACs need to legalize and regulate PEDs, maybe even supply them directly through dispensaries with subsidies for athletes who can't afford them. That or they need to just go ahead and ban MMA again.
