He's just framing the guilty!
He's been out on bail for over a year. The families had to file civil suits and include the Sheriff in order to get him arrested.
This wasn't a 'bad apple'. Nobody goes that hard on planting evidence if no one around them is doing it.
Sheriff/DA have been working over time to cover up any institutional failures. Don't be surprised if he gets a soft sentence as a reward for keeping his mouth shut.

the families have been demanding justice for over a year. Then they started filing civil suits and naming the Sheriff as a co-defendant.
Boom, here come the charges. They sandbagged it as long as they could to put time between the evidence and the investigation.
Need to know who's dirty and who's not.
the way the investigation has played out and the amount of time he was brazenly doing it lead me to think there's a whole lot of dirty.
He was still planting evidence in June of 2018. He's been out free for a year and is expected to be offered a plea deal. His attorney isn't talking.
Drug arrests are the economic engine that keep police budgets booming. Especially pot arrests. So vital to police welfare.
