Boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard posts Pacific Palisades villa for sale at $52 million

Legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard is looking to knock out a hefty home sale in Pacific Palisades. His grand villa of nearly half a century is up for grabs at a whopping $51.995 million.

If he gets his price, it’ll be among L.A. County’s priciest home sales this year. The increasingly hot summer market has already seen the Manor in Holmby Hills sell for a record $119.75 million and Uber co-founder Garrett Camp shell out $72.5 million for a Beverly Hills mansion.

Covering nearly two park-like acres in the Riviera neighborhood, the estate holds a 16,700-square-foot mansion, a two-story guesthouse, swimming pool, tennis court and putting green.

Draped in ivy and topped by clay tile, the main residence showcases grand elegance throughout its various wings and oversized living spaces. A formal foyer accesses the grand center hall, which branches off into a living room under beamed ceilings, formal dining room and center-island chef’s kitchen.

A stone fireplace anchors the master suite. One of seven bedrooms, it expands to a pair of balconies overlooking the rolling lawns.

Stone columns frame a sunny solarium, and three arched doorways connect the space to the outdoors. Winding paths navigate the verdant grounds, stopping by a deck perched over the tennis court and a poolside kitchen ideal for entertaining.

Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage holds the listing.

Leonard, 63, is considered one of the greatest boxers of all-time. From 1977 to 1997, he won 36 of his 40 fights en route to world titles in five different weight divisions and an Olympic gold medal.

grounds and building maintenance must be ridiculous man

nobody wants workers all around doing shit all the time

Sugar probably wants to downsize and get himself some privacy

Amazing place no doubt

Rich people spending never ceases to amaze me. We have a 1.2 million dollar house in the middle of some fucking crawfish ponds near me. Like why in the hell do you need that in south Louisiana.

Maintenance of grounds wouldn't be too bad. It's less than 2 acres. Given, the property is beautifully maintained, but it's nothing over the top (relative to the $10m+ price range, and the net worth of buyers in the price range). The 50 year old structure might be costly to maintain, but that really depends upon what has been done to it over the years. Often times buyers take homes down to the studs to replace electric and Plumbing while reconfiguring the floor plan to suite their lifetyle and tastes, so aside from the age of the structure, it is an up to date home with minimal maintenance. This home appears extensively updated.

That property looks very private, but I would agree that he is most likely downsizing. 10,000sqft+ isn't something that you live in forever. Kids grow up amd empty nesters in their 60's just don't need it.

So let me get my math right. He’s 63 and he’s owned the house for half a century. He bought it when he was 13? Beautiful house.

holy fuck he is rich
Net worth is $120m, allegedly. He Wil be a lot wealthier when the house sells, but nowhere close to as wealthy as the buyer. Standard property taxes in this state are just under 1.2%, but incorporated cities add on to that, and certain counties do as well. LA has higher taxes than we do, but if we were to hypothetically say the property taxes were the same, the buyer will be paying $625k annually, and that increases by 1% per year.
