Anyone have a good CC they are using for airline miles/travel points? I’m leaving a lot of goodies on the table.

The only one I use is American Express Delta SkyMiles. Mostly because I'm usually flying Delta.

It has some decent perks. 1st checked bag is free which doesn't feel like a huge perk because it always used to be free, but you do get priority boarding - which is nice.

All purchases with the card go towards sky miles - so depending on how much money you are floating through the card you can get some free flights.

My brother has one that he uses for business. He just got back from Ireland and "paid" for the flight by cashing in his miles.

It all really depends on your local hub you use.
Do you care about flexibility and will take fewer points to use different services? Do you want to get cheap air and dont care where you stay when you get there? Are you targeting a long goal of a branded hotel in the maldives and care less about the air?

I'm near southwest, so I know them.
If you are near Southwest, one option is to wait until later this fall. Then get a rapid rewards personal and business card. That's over 110,000 points if you meet the needed spending in the first 3 months (like 7k total between the two). Over 110k you now have a companion pass for the rest of the calendar year and the following year. So you want to time this to earn it in January 2020. Then you have 2020 and 2021 with a set of cards that give points worth about 1.5-1.85 cents each. And you have 2 years of someone flying for free with you.

Read the fine print! there are barriers on sign ups for this so don't apply to another card and then go for this one. All these travel cards are doing this to stop you from getting like five companies and then stacking points through transfer programs. The personal and business are separate. But you dont want to get personal airline X and then try for airline Y card too without reading the details!

Looking for flexibility. I don't want to be married to one airline/hotel. Annual fees are fine. GF has Delta and Alaska covered.

I think what you are saying is they check to see what cards you already have before issuing? Interesting.

I'm saying don't plan to apply to two personal cards in quick succession in attempting to stack travel points or it might fail.

Chase Sapphire preferred is the best all around card Currently for flexibility.

they're one of the main ones that will let you turn those points in for other rewards points.
You will only get something like 1.25 cents per point value....vs 1.5-1.75 for more limited points programs.

Chase is the underwriter for most of the other travel cards so they are very flexible in point transfers
