Man, fasting is literally the one thing I want to do so much but am not able to mentally.

I'm not fat, I just want to experience that it's possible.
I tried it last year and it absolutely sucked and I hated it.
I really wonder how people do it...

Start with intermittent fasting. Eat all your calories in 8 hours or less.

I fasted for 4 days. It was hard to eat after that. I was eating one meal a day sort of. I was having high protein shakes for breakfast and after workout, eating only dinner.

I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. I started eating only one meal after the 4 days. I lost a lot of muscle mass. That’s when I added the shakes. Muscle came back fairly quick. I didn’t plan on doing this for long but it kind of stuck. Over time I’m thinking my body probably went into starvation mode as I starting gaining unwanted fat weight.

Now I’m doing six small meals a day. I mostly feel full and some days I can’t even make all six. I set calorie targets but having trouble meeting them as I cut out everything bad. No gatorade, booze etc etc. I wanted to lose six pounds last time I weighed myself I lost 12. I’m going to stay with the small meals and just add to it.

The original fast TBO wasn’t planned. I went through a bad breakup and couldn’t eat. I ate half a piece of bread on the 5th day. I don’t recommend that.

I do that naturally, depends on the day thats in it all the same, some days I don't eat much at all, some days I eat like a fat bastard.

Usually eat everything for the day in an 8 hour window though.

Never thought it was a good thing.

I forgot to eat yesterday.

At about 10 PM I realized I was hungry but I don't like eating late at night so I chalked it up to a 1 day fast. Haha.

It's not the first time that's happened. I get preoccupied with shit and can't be bothered to stop to eat. Ain't nobody got time for that shit.

Ialready do that. hehe, I call it 'Not being a morning person and not eating breakfast' :D

I must somehow learn to fall asleep without having eaten 1-2hrs before I guess...
can't fall asleep on an empty stomach

Make your last meal have lots of fat content. You'll feel full for the next 13 hours at least...

He survived but that is not optimal for health
It depends on the circumstances. Restricted calorie diets have been consistently demonstrated to extend longevity. The abstract of this study stated, "Prolonged fasting in this patient had no ill-effects."

But yes, in a lot of instances, starving yourself for a year is not ideal.

This happens when I have long work days. When I finally do eat that day, I either get sick, or can only eat a few bites.

So for an entire year his body used the fuel from his stored fat and muscle to keep functioning and he drank only water?

No vitamin intake at all? I didn't read the story but this can't be healthy.

This is totally "layman's terms" and I'm almost ashamed that I'm just repeating what some chemist told me when we were speaking about him planning on just eating pemmicum (fat+meat, dried) for months. I didn't check for the validity. Didn't bother, but it seems fitting here, just as a thought.

He said though that vitamins are among other things used for processes that involve the digestion. He did explain the whole thing but I just memorized something like "you need a lot of vitamin C to metabolize carbs. no carbs, then you just need a fraction of the vitamin"
he said that was the reason why the sailors would get the scurvy, they were eating just cookies and wheat products and needed lots of vitamin C to metabolize them; whereas people who fast don't get scurvy.

Maybe that goes for the whole thing.

Again: just repeating something a guy said. Not sure if true. Sorry bout that.
