You been getting some of your chops back?
It'd be an overstatement to suggest I ever had any. I tell people "At my best I could play 5% of a handful of songs." It's slowly coming back, I try to get a half hour-hour in every day or two. Just trying to be consistent. I'll pick out a song I like that sounds playable and chip away at it a little at a time. At least by having a nice guitar, even if I lose interest I can hang it on my wall and have something cool to look at.

How do you plug in?
Have you tried it yet?
How much?
Input is on the top where the on/off and dials are.
Yes, I tried it. Very happy with it. Has 4,1, and 1/4 watt settings, so you can crank up the tubes on the 1/4 watt without blowing the windows out of your house. It also looks good sitting in the living room.
About $225 US dollars.

im a fan of ibanez guitars if your into metal and want to go cheap even their rg120 used to be good back in the day. it had a shitty tremolo but a beginner guitarist can't use it anyway even an experienced one has trouble using one.I dont like the wide necks or fretboards on fenders

I finally have an electric guitar, my first.
I hate practicing on my acoustic because it damages my sensitive fingers.

I want my guitar to sound like Metallica as well as normal.
What do I need?
Do amps have distortion settings?
Do I need a pedal?

I'm shooting for middle class territory; In other words I want to adapt to it, not outgrow it in 6 months
Passive Jay @Passive Jay , anyone? chime in.

It's a Washburn with 4 knobs
Have you gotten one already?
I just saw the thread...

I can tell you the following go to a store or look at used ones and go with what you like. If you like an amp, although the brand is not cool or if people recommend a special respected amp but you don't like how the knobs handle or whatever then go with your feeling.
It will all be more or less good for the little money. The stuff that they're selling nowadays (small digital amps below 150€ for example) beats the FUCK out of what you would get 15years ago. Today - all the cheap little digital amps are okay for playing around. Try to get a foot-stomp to turn on/off the distortion. It's WAY more fun that way.

I'd rather worry about playing and practising more ;)
Play so much that your fingerprints disappear and then come back with stronger skin. And play standing. And play "Face the Pain" hahahaha

A bigger amp you need for playing with drums (100 watts tube amp, used for cheap). Pedal: don't need one. See above. Check them out and decide but focus on playing. Stuff is so cheap nowadays, why not get a flanger pedal, right? ;)

I have a wah pedal from the late 80s/early 90s that still sounds amazing.

When I dusted off my old gear I found the pot in my Crybaby was shot. So I bought a used Hendrix Crybaby to use whIle I fix my original. I can't believe how good that thing sounds.

Sometimes a little love from some contact cleaner is all it needs.

It was definitely the pot, replaced it on Saturday and it's back in action now. Just don't like it as much as the Hendrix one. I also got a good deal on a new to me Octafuzz. That thing is a pile of fun.

My Explorer right now makes no sound at all, I know literally nothing about wiring or electronics. I've been putting off getting it fixed because I have other guitars but I'd like to use it. Also probably needs a set up. Anyway, hoping to get it done next week.

My current new squeeze. I might keep hold of it. I didn’t need to change the pick ups or anything, it was fully loaded with what I wanted.

Details, please.
I wanted a combo amp for my basement, partly to use, partly because they make cool furniture. The wall it's sitting on wasn't going to look right with a 15 watt or smaller amp, so I had kind of narrowed it down to a few expecting to use something like the JHS Little Black Amp Box or a power soak. This past weekend the local big box instrument store was having an inventory blowout and had a variety of amps that would fit the bill. They also carry a bronco red Vox AC10 that I'm quite enamored with, although I'd kind of settled on a blonde Fender Deluxe Reverb. Of course when I get there the DR is long gone, but they did have a couple used Twin Reverb reissues. One looked like it's fallen off the back of a truck, the other just some barely noticable light scuffs on the side, bottoms of the tolex and one chip in the top. All in all, pretty good shape. I also don't mind Fender stuff showing a little wear as it reminds me of the well loved, road worn gear that you hear stories about or in my case saw in bars in my early teen years.

Anyways, they had it priced at 800 bucks, ($600 USD) which is a steal over the price of a new one and even a couple hundred bucks than they tend to be posted for used around here. I was tending to lean toward a Fender amp anyways, because I tend to (very, very poorly) play blues/country so a clean amp that can take pedals is kind of ideal for me. As I said, 85 watts is wayyyyyy too much for my living arrangements but I figured with a power soak on it (which I'd already ordered from Amazon expecting to have this predicament) it'd probably be manageable. Again, I'm not looking for breakup on a Fender amp, that's what pedals are for. Part of me also kind of wanted a Twin because (going back to my youth) a lot of local guys I really resepcted swore by them. So I said, fuck it. 0% financed it for 6 months (money's better in my pocket than theirs, right?) and brought the big bastard home. Turned it on, plugged in my strat and I (and 15 year old Beard) are really happy with my choice. Decent chance that the power soak will be going back to Amazon because at 1.5-2 the soound level really isn't at all over bearing.

Sorry I missed this matey.
Guitar Center were on their way out a little while ago so I was getting 30% off offers. Sign up for their mailing list. I'm on a first name basis ith a couple of guys at my local store. I had some health issues for a few months so I was relying on them to swap out pick ups etc because I couldn't hold a soldering iron steady.
Do you gig, or home stuff?
