To compliment Splinty @Splinty 's thread on MTV Unplugged I figured I'd start one for cover songs specifically. Here are some of my favorite covers...

Kenny Rogers version was a cover of Kenny Rogers & The First Edition's version, lol.
Cake can lay down that same 'countrified pop' vibe...on a song about a disabled vet watching his wife get side-dicked, and contemplating murder and/or suicide...

like eating a pie, then getting punched in the gut.

2003 OutKast releases “Hey Ya” an upbeat catchy song that a lot of people enjoyed and thought was an uplifting song due to the beat.



Well if you listened to the lyrics you’d understand the song was not upbeat or uplifting ...so one musician named Obadiah Parker decided to capture the true essence of the song and perform it live to a small venue crowd....





The cover went somewhat viral for its time and eventually the hit sitcom at the time known as “Scrubs” asked Obadiah if they could use his version for their season ending show....and here is their attempt to recreate Parker’s Version:
