Happens every year during hunting season. Nervous hunters shooting at a noise or movement without identifying what they are shooting at. Lot of idiots out there

If they followed basic gun safety this would not happen.

Chael Sonnen's mom once almost shot Yushin Okami....
well, or maybe not, because Chael told the story and he's a total liar.
anyone remember that?

The mother and anyone who hears about the situation will now be more mindful of this type of situation.

The mother should be investigated whether she has the mental faculties to continue owning a firearm.

Any other gun owner who was not directly related to this situation should not be impacted whatsoever by the mother’s actions.

I think the video has more explanation than the article. In the video it sounded like someone entered her bedroom, not just her house, in the dark. No mention has been made of the daughter knocking or calling out to announce her presence. So in that case, I'm not sure what the right response is- we don't know if there was a light near the mother she could have turned on. Idk.

Do you think she should have called out that she has a gun first? For sure if she heard a person enter her house she should have called 911 and then told the person entering the bedroom that the police are coming.

Idk. It also sounds like having her daughter away at college was new for both of them, so maybe that's part of it.

1. treat every weapon as if it were loaded
2. never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot
3. keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you're ready to fire
4. keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire

Hard to blame the mom. It was dark and someone came into her bedroom. I have a gun at my nightstand, but I also have a flashlight.
