Things heating up yesterday...

Houthis claim they hit Saudi.
But suspicions immediately rise that they would have a hard time doing this with drones without Iranian support.

Shit getting tense.

Then this today...

So not only drones and they were launched from Southern Iraq. Though the cruise missiles could really be anywhere in a radius.

Oil prices will increase 5%
Saudi has cut half their oil production due to damage.
They will respond. This will get worse.

I read about this today and thought of you. It seems there's this incredible boner to pin it on Iran. I thought some of that would've calmed down post-Bolton.

those plans that were put in place didn't exclusively benefit John Bolton and his raging war-erection. The other parties who stood to benefit are seeing that opportunity slip away for the foreseeable future, and they're looking for every opportunity to take the decision out of the hands of the POTUS.

Iran and Houthis are inextricably linked, even though the Houthis have grown strong enough to manage Saudis poorly arranged military without Iran at this point. It's a proxy war, if only due to opportunity for Iran to fuck with Saudi as MbS tried to make a name for himself with a quick military victory.
If the attacks came from Iran backed militias in Southern Iraq, this becomes a lot less Houthi attack thanks to Iran backing and more an Iranian attack on behalf of the Houthis. It changes things.

Russia and China must be happy about this attack. Increased oil prices will barely touch us in the USA with our current production capacities. Much harder on Europe and Asia. The appetite for oil sanctions and China trade war will be lessened and allies fractured if oil from Saudi doesn't quickly come back online.

Iran denies, which is of no doubt they would whether did or did not aide it directly. They are probably doing some fuckery intentionally and sometimes just happy others are fucking with Saudi too.

But this is rich:

Iraq’s prime minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, also denied speculation that the attack had been launched from his country and said in a statement his government would “deal firmly” with anyone trying to attack neighboring countries from Iraq.

They probably came from Iraq my man.

those are the reasons John Bolton was told "No". His inability to accept that or navigate to a "Yes" are why he rage-quit.

but how hard would it be for Iran War instigators to support the Houthi rebels? Not that we've done that in the past...

Impossible.

Their motto is God is great, death to the US, death to Israel, curse the Jews, and victory for Islam. The further we get involved the more our entrenched opposition will be apparent.

Just how may lists would one be placed on for merely posting this? With all the shit going on is it even possible to end this without war? I just can't see either side giving and inch to resolve this. The fear of looking weak will overpower any sensibility.

Just recently bipartisan congress has been pushing for us to pull out of the Saudi-Yemeni conflict. Saudi has already screwed up their intervention MASSIVELY. We should not chase their bad money with our good money, even if the Houthis are shit on their own.

i see that as why direct involvement would be risky. There are levels of action/inaction in making opportunities available. But even then, direct support/action is High Consequence but not necessarily High Risk. It does seem like the War Pigs (lol, but kinda) almost got their way and were turned away at the last minute. In my mind, that makes them half as risk averse in this setback as they were when they were looking to advance it for their own gain.

Trump only gives a shit about "a deal". If he can claim he got one and it was him and it was somehow on his terms, he'd make a deal with Iran imo.
I agree on the looking weak. Just need an outcome that lets both sides claim a victory.

Houthis will have to admit it was done from Iraq or they are purporting they have capabilities to do this from inside their territory. The latter isn't true but if it was it'd be because Iran provided it.

Iran has been providing them with weapons from the beginning. Doesn't everyone know this?

Do you think it was done from Iraq?

I do and you do. Others seem to downplay the importance of the tech being provided by Iran. Houthis can defend on their own through numbers, they can't attack like this without Iran.
The bigger point is that Iraq has denied this and its embarrassing for them as they look to walk a tight rope in a dangerous neighborhood. Iraq says they will respond (of course they must say this) but that could mean targeting Iran backed militias that operate in southern Iraq, which also probably launched these drones, not Houthis or independet Houthi sympathizers.

Do you think it was done from Iraq?
yes, many accounts coming in from Kuwait

This one was from Iraq Saudi Arabia Oil Pipeline Damaged in Drone Attack by Houthi Rebels
