Good thing George Zimmerman went on to prove his critics wrong. Ol’ Georgie has been such an upstanding law obiding citizen since.
To be fair to Zim, once you become a pariah your life becomes just a shade more difficult.

Yeah - they did drag him through the legal system for 3 or 4 years over that. He had the POTUS investigating if they could charge him with Civil Rights crimes.

looks like he got off easy with the manslaughter conviction instead of murder he basically executed a guy.

"Drejka had confronted McGlockton’s girlfriend, Britany Jacobs, for parking in a handicapped space while McGlockton went inside a convenience store with his 5-year-old son. Security video recorded McGlockton leaving the store and shoving Drejka to the ground. Seconds later, Drejka pulled out a handgun and shot McGlockton, 28, as he backed away. McGlockton ran inside the store, where he collapsed and died in front of his son"

The prosecutors didn't go for murder because it would require premeditation.

well he got off easy then. because he executed that guy he murdered him.
After George Zimmerman got off, prosecutors in Florida have been reluctant to go for a charge of murder.

Zimmerman likely would have been found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 30 years in prison, but because prosecutors were overzealous, he walked free.

there's no time requirement for premeditation in Florida, only that the action was done with the intent to kill.

IMO, this was murder.
