Anderson relied on his aura to do a lot of the things he did. He faced a lot of fighters who could have beaten him had they not beaten themselves before stepping into the cage.Weidman got lucky.
He game planned Andy perfectly in that first fight. He had his number.Weidman got lucky.
USADA did seem to affect a lot of career paths when it became fully active. Off the top of my head, Cain, Weidman, Rockhold...Wiedman is 1-4 in the last 4 years at a young age. He has had quite the career slide. He only has one win after USADA.
I saw a physical drop in chris and cain's bodyUSADA did seem to affect a lot of career paths when it became fully active. Off the top of my head, Cain, Weidman, Rockhold...
Full disclosure: My memory tends to get blurred over the years. Plus I'm a fan of Andy and always felt Wiedman was over rated so that could also blur things. However, as I recall, Andy was winning the first fight until Chris landed the "lucky" shot. I don't typically like to say lucky punches when discussing pro fighters because it seems a tad disrespectful. But in this case, Andy was a master or range and movement. No one was able to land those shots on him up to that point in his career. Chris had like 8 fights. Hard to imagine he was anywhere near the level of Andy's striking, hence the lucky shot.Twice?
If memory serves Andy didn't win a round against Weidman in either fight. I remember him being down a round going into the second and getting really excited when he started clowning Weidman because we all know what comes after Andy clowning, but that thing never came.Full disclosure: My memory tends to get blurred over the years. Also, I call the 2nd fight lucky because Andy's leg fell off.
Weidman was a nightmare match up for SilvaWeidman timed Andersons head movement perfectly the first fight, he trained to do that, that isn't luck.
You can say Anderson was clowning but he did that in every fight he was in, Weidman made him pay for it.
That check was no accident either, again he trained to do that, the result was as good as it gets, thats fair enough, still not a fluke.
He was also winning that fight up to that point and had dropped Anderson with a clinch uppercut, the clinch being Andersons most dangerous position.
I don't really like Weidman, he also definitely fell off post USADA but to discredit those 2 wins as flukes is just wrong.
I think Anderson was not at his best in either fight, fair enough but Weidman beat him, he didn't beat himself.
