To make sure I’m clear, this is not saying he doesn’t have it in his system, rather it came from a contaminated supplement and the concentration is at such a low level that it could not be considered performance enhancing. Does that sum it up accurately?

A significant number of test failures get this defense even though that's not the rules originally.

Comically, all you have to do is cheat and taint your own supplement. Put a few tainted pills aside and when you get caught, turn them in.

I thought the lab obtained a supplement sample to test independently, I didn't know it was just the fighters turning over wtv they had.

If the system works as claimed they use the lot number from the turned in supplement and run it against other samples from the same lot.

Presumably they should go get batch samples. Some might provide them and usada probably has some database. But they absolutely test the fighters supplements as they have publicly stated the specific number of tainted pills that a fighter had in their possession in the past.

There's zero chance corporate batch samples were available with the pace this time or that there this is any large scale corporate willingness to work with usada anyways. Who would hand over their limited QC batch samples to an outside agency to prove you are selling tainted goods???
Usada works a detective process but that requires some time and work for root cause.

Usada has lot samples from how many supplements on standby? How many organic, vegan, plant-based daily multivitamins that were contaminated with LGD-4033??

Seems limited if people are taking stuff off those guaranteed safe lists.

They were out tracing to Mexican meat a while back.

I understand what you are saying but consider the logistics there.
Run it against...what? Their known sample from every lot? Contact the manufacturer who just happens to have AND GIVES samples to any testing body that calls and then publicly notifies everyone the company has tainted goods?

But do you think Nate doped then?
Honestly no I do not believe he doped .

I could be wrong and very well could be the blind one.

Nate diaz is clean but at the same time I believe 90% of athletes are on something illegal .

There's a lot of truth to that.
The UFC and usada would have notified Nate and his job would be to keep quiet while they help find ways to get him exonerated. Nothing public until the investigation is done.
The issue there is that he could go and fight UFC would make their money and if usada testing practices (whatever they are because they are increasingly opaque) Don't clear him Nate becomes the only loser. Flights have already happened money is already made and they gets a reputation hit.

Nate coming out and saying suck it, figured out or we all lose is some masterful game theory if he's innocent. But it's also pretty masterful if somebody is guilty.
Since positive tests are no longer inherently guilty tests, how far can this push the grey area of usada?

I know folks think he’s an idiot but I think he’s smarter than most are willing to admit. Not saying he planned it all out perfectly but it certainly did work out that way this time around.
Who would’ve thunk that he’s the new Conor McGregor or JBJ of the UFC lol.

Usada has lot samples from how many supplements on standby?
Maybe a lot, potentially zero.

Remembering that according to USADA (stop laughing) athletes are tested year round, and often. If Nate pissed hot 2 days ago, he's more than likely using a supplement who's lot mates are still sitting on the store shelf where Nate bought it from. It's not like when someone is flagged it's from a sample taken years ago. They also run on a guilty until proven innocent model, so there's that.

Contact the manufacturer who just happens to have AND GIVES samples to any testing body that calls and then publicly notifies everyone the company has tainted goods?
If you're a supplement manufacturer it isn't exactly in your best interest to sell tainted supplements. In some cases it could potentially bankrupt your business. So yeah, they probably would try to clear their name if given the opportunity. That being said, I don't know whether or not USADA actually publishes the name of the supplement makers when they find them to be tainted.

Nate "Pictograms" Diaz!

LOL @ this desperate shitshow.

USADA is becoming slowly irrelevant...
They won't be irrelevant as long as they have power over fighters careers.

Their results are becoming meaningless though.

How convenient that this got cleared up in time for nate to catch a plane to NY
From what has been released, it sounds like it was cleared up from the get go, but Nate forced them to say something about it publicly before he'd leave.

Honestly, there are a lot of reasons to be pissed at USADA, but this situation ain't one of them.

Are there really people in here who think that Nate shouldn't have been allowed to fight in this situation? If you want USADA to be able to ruin careers based on an imperfect system, and minute levels of something being in someone's system, especially with no collective bargaining so the fighters have a say in the process, I would question your understanding of antidoping in general, and/or your support of the athletes.

Are you sure this is the case? USADA, in the past, has referenced obtaining sealed bottles of supplements off the shelf for testing.

Also, do you not think the tainted supplement defense should be allowed?
