Would any white nationalists (formerly known as supremacists) on here be able to explain how this branding exercise was so successful?

You never see any headlines about white supremacists any more, only white nationalists. And these are written by people who obviously oppose white supremacy. There is no distinction between the two - obviously you have to be a white supremacist to be a white nationalist - so how did people get sucked into thinking there is?

Pretty impressive re-branding. It would be like if rapists successfully lobbied to have the media refer to them only as 'Famous Irish sports stars'.

Inferiority was always a big part of it. The 'cunning' Jew conspiring with 'race traitors' to keep the white man down is one of the movement's core ideas. There was always a begrudging respect for the fake, evil Jewish caricature they'd created.

Earlier 'separatist' re-branding efforts fell flat because 'separatist' still sounds bad. They'd trot out statistics showing Asians and Jews doing better on IQ tests and say "hee haw, we don't think we're better, we just don't want to live with them. We're not 'supremacists', we're just 'separatists'". But of course nobody used to take this obviously disingenuous argument seriously and just used to rightly call them 'supremacists' anyway. If you didn't think your 'race' was fundamentally better than another 'race', then you wouldn't mind living with them.

For whatever reason, switching up the word to 'nationalist' seemed to work though.

Yes, that's my point. Even though many know that white nationalism is just white supremacy, it's a more palatable term that white supremacists have deliberately re-branded themselves as.

Definitions and language are important. Don't let them redefine themselves, just call them white supremacists to help keep them stigmatized and ostracized from civil discourse like they should be.

As of late, the recent election cycle.

I believe there are predetermined social constructs propagated by an "elite class"(for lack of a better term) that are chosen based on circumstances, for nefarious purposes.

"White privilege" is an example, brought about by none other than Bill Gates, the most-high Incel whose life mission is to obtain all 7 power bases and control at least a large portion of humanity.
