Colby Covington told his corner his jaw may have been broken, while sitting on the stool after the third round, in his title fight at UFC 245. And after the bout ended - with his TKO loss to Kamaru Usman - the longtime ATT fighter rushed from the cage and into the backstage area of the arena. However, once there, reports surfaced that a post fight check had revealed no facial fractures. It seemed as though Covington’s injury fears may have been overblown.

However, following a more in-depth exam the UFC has since confirmed that…

During the fight, they showed a replay of which punch they thought it was.

I’d like to see that replay again, it was a good crack on the button.

two rounds is a long time to fight like that, and he was definitely still getting hit. I bet
It hurt like hell when the adrenaline wore off.

ah obviously it's a good gag. just to be clear though, a jaw break in a fight is horrible. must be fuckin painful, with potential long term implications (especially if it gets absolutely smashed again!).

to continue with a broken jaw has to be one of the highest forms of bravery. and maybe the idea of backing out occurred to him. fair fucking play to him if it did. a broken jaw is insane.

I don't get the hate. except for pro wrestling-level booing. he has been so obviously an act since it all started. hating him is like hating an actor from a film who plays a nasty character lol proper stupid person territory

It is in Colby’s and the UFC’s interest to say that his jaw was broken after initial reports said there wasn’t. A potentially face saving move for Colby and the UFC commentators (Rogan) after treating it as FACT based solely on Colby’s between round say so.

It could be true but I’m suspicious.

The commission reported it as part of the medical suspension. I don't know what these initial reports you are referring to are, but that's the definitive report.

The odds of Colby thinking he has a broken jaw, it looking like a broken jaw and then it not being a broken jaw, but then the UFC bribing a doctor to say it is a broken jaw, is Flat Earther territory.

All I see in the article is the UFC confirms... blah blah blah...

It there is an actual doctor’s report then no problem, but whatever, this isn’t some hill I’m going to die on.

God, it was glorious.

Also, Colby has no snap on his punches. At all. I just watched the fight again - he has greatly improved his striking for sure. But like the Lawler fight, he lands many strikes that never really hurt guys. Usman seemed to hurt him whenever he connected and the 5th round KO was just amazing. What a war that was.
