I completely don't understand how anyone could enjoy this garbage. It truly puzzles me. If you detach them from Star Wars completely as stand alone movies, Last Jedi and Rise are complete cinematic failures. The writing is terrible, the direction is amateurish. I just do not understand how anyone besides maybe 10-15% of the audience could enjoy this (there is always 10-15% of a population that does/feels/thinks the opposite from the rest of the population regardless of how insane their actions/thoughts/feelings are).....
Really Star Wars is the only stand alone movie. Everything after you really need to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy imo.

Yes Rey can and you seem to be confusing movies and reality

I enjoyed the movie. I do not get to go out that often so it was kind of a big deal, so that may be part of it.

There were definitely things that happened that were not what I would have chosen. Definitely a few disappointments and a couple of moments/choices that don't make sense. But nothing so horrible that I didn't enjoy watching the movie. There were also a couple of things that I really loved in it.

My husband is a hardcore Star Wars fan and was extremely disappointed, but his reaction seems to be more tempered this morning.

We both agree that everything else would have been easily forgivable if Ben lived at the end. I was also disappointed that every scene Lando was in was written like a camio. I would have liked a little more.

But in any case, I enjoyed it.

Sci-fi/fantasy. Anything can happen
Without rules in place everything is chaos and nonsense and hard to enjoy imo. Scorsese and Mike Stoklasa from Red Letter Media are right when they say this kind of shit movie is just an amusement park ride. It has nothing to do with even half decent writing or character development or story. It is just pure flashing lights to stimulate your brain like a monkey experiment.

Never heard of Stoklasa but I want an "amusement park ride" from movies. They're supposed to be an escape.
And that's why I'm more emotionally invested in John Williams' score and an opening crawl of a Star War than anything Scorsese has ever done.

wow that sucks, Scorsese has made quite a few great films

this latest star war movie was great to watch but then as each day goes by it gets steadily worse in my mind :D some of the issues have been mentioned already of course, but the part I found too ridiculous was the Emperor's new fleet and it's location. A fleet wouldn't be 1 ship of the same type mass produced whether they were also planet killers or not, and a shitty enemy fleet had no real issues trashing them, they fired at the underslung grenade launchers and it destroyed the ships entirely. The force lightning scene then made a complete mockery of them all :p

update : forgot to add that wouldn't it be more cost efficient to store the fleet in deep space rather than in the damn sky?

The original trilogy are films. They are cinema. You can find plenty of escape in Sci-Fi/Fantasy space monks fighting an evil space monk and an evil space sorcerer in charge of a planet destroying weapon. These movies are complete garbage that have zero internal logic, zero character development, nonsensical plots that constantly contradict themselves, etc. etc. etc.

All complete nonsense. How an industry that is paying people TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to put this kind of shit out is completely beyond my understanding at this point. Kathleen Kennedy should have been IMMEDIATELY shit-canned after Solo. Like the Monday after it's release...

And J.J. Abrams is a POS, conman who can kiss my hairy ass..............

I love the originals!
I've rewatched them more than any other movie but they're full of flaws.

The whole franchise is full of plot holes and poor character development so I don't understand the why all of a sudden, it's trendy to hate Star Wars.

The sequels have given us some great emotional moments, new characters and cool visuals so I'll forever defend them.

They did a 70 minute Half-in-the-Bag!!!!!!!!!!!

Masato Toys @Masato Toys
Half in the bag is great but nothing compares to Mr Plinkett lol. He’s my favourite movie critic. Can’t wait for his review
I know its the same guy btw ;)

I saw the movie last night. Have a full day but I will be back to comment on the film.

Big thumbs down, can't wait for some free time to come here and rag on it lol

There is a LESBIAN KISS in the film, that should get the ball rolling for now lol

Solo is also a standalone, and if people are honest with themselves it might be the best movie of the whole franchise.

The only thing lazier than the writing in Rise of Skywalker, are the criticisms being launched at it.

My wife and I saw it tonight. When she asked me what I thought of it, I told her that I both enjoyed it, and thought it had a lot of problems.

My wife saw it and enjoyed it enough to go back and watch the last two and she doesn't really like Star Wars so I applaud Abrams and company.
