Wonder if the US will finally end this almost 2 decades long 'war'... Lol, well not really, too much money, opium and oil to be made. More likely they'll double down and invade Iran now too.

They will never "invade" Iran.

Does Iraq have a lot of opium?
Yes, not as much as Afghanistan but just like them, production has massively increased since the US entered.
"Drug cultivation, specifically the growing of opium poppies, is on the rise in Iraq, under the watchful support of militias and other armed groups. Patrick Cockburn, writing for the Independent, first wrote about opium cultivation under the control of Shiia militias in Southern Iraq back in May of 2007."
" Then, in another Independent article by Cockburn published today, the recognition that many different armed groups, including those now supported by the US military in Iraq, are involved:
The growing and smuggling of opium will be difficult to stop in Iraq because much of the country is controlled by criminalised militias... "

they broke down a vehicle gate and set guard house on fire.

Sure - it'll cost $24M for Haliburton to rebuild the guard house and put up a new gate, but no real damage done.
And those troops were never in danger.

Should have just shot a couple. They would have dispersed

This is what happens when you shit on diplomacy.....

The Embassy Attack Revealed Trump’s Weakness

"When it comes to Iran, Trump has shifted Republican foreign policy away from war without shifting it towards diplomacy—the only stable alternative to war. So he’s caught in a kind of purgatory. The American embassy compound in Baghdad, now covered in pro-Iranian graffiti and strewn with broken glass, is the latest symbol of that purgatory. It probably won’t be the last."
