Maybe get your talking points from a reputable source and stop repeating fake info? The money was Iran's to begin with. Though I'm sure you knew that but choose to ignore it.....
As for "Death TO America" chants, well yeah look what we've done lately to cause that to happen. That wasn't happening once the International deal was in place, now as it?
For anyone
else who actually cares about facts, I'll explain my
original post, and why our entire current strategy is a massive clusterfuck:
Iran's politics are (*Goldie voice*)
virtually identical to US politics. True story. There's a hardline extremist wing, and a liberal wing, and literally not much else. Sound familiar? Sometime in 2014, the "liberal wing" was elected by promising normalizing relations with the West. The now-defunct nuclear deal came out of that election, and if you think there was opposition to it in the US, it was 10 times worse in Iran. The extremist hardliners absolutely fucking hated it. But ..... What Iran got with it was 10 years of normal relations with the West.
In return, The West always had the option to extend
or kill the deal if Iran didn't stop its nuclear advancement, or misbehaved in any way.
This was the first time (in a long time) where the US started playing the long game I was referring to. A giant portion of the Iranian population is under 30, which means that they were born a decade after "the revolution". They're young, sort of liberal, not very religious and
don't hate the West. If you ever meet or speak to an Iranian under say the age of 35, you will find this to be true. If the deal like it was supposed to had lasted the 10 years, they would've become the dominant demographic. If it was extended for another 10 years, then in 20 years they the generation that would assume power and there wouldn't be the "Death to America" chants at government funded protests.
But yeah Trump came along and nuked the deal, and now
the hardliners are back in power. Big bonus for them because now they're telling their younger more liberal counterparts "I fucking told you so!".
Now it's the hardliners who are making a mess in Iraq and Syria, which is
not supported by the majority of their population. So where're we at now? We trade some minor fire once in a while, fire up some twitter fingers 'fire & fury' diplomacy, both sides threaten to end each other, etc. etc..... status quo, but at least (it seemed) it wouldn't escalate beyond a certain level of (mushroom) dick-waving.
And then we go and blow up this Soulemani guy. I don't care what your politics are, I think you would be pissed if Iran killed a senior American General. Every 'Murican would rightly want blood.
Instead, what we now have is those young liberalish kids that didn't give a damn about the Mullahs BS, are now starting to join then chanting "death to America" instead of watching porn and YouTube on their American iPhones.
It makes no difference that Soulemani
was a piece of shit who
was directly responsible for dead Americans: Bombing him was a huge strategic mistake. Now we go back to being reactive on pins & needles, and looking at the near term instead of playing the long game which would actually have solved the "Iran Problem" within 20 years.
