How is it making a difference? How do you differentiate the effect of the new wall sections from other factors?
Border crossings bottomed out in 2010...long before anyone built any part of a wall.
and how is it going to slow down $20B worth of illegal immigration? and that's just to build it, not calculating maintenance over it's lifetime...maybe we should rebuild our infrastructure instead of throwing money we don't have in to something that's a bad investment?
Pres Trump has a history of construction projects where he got rich and someone else was left holding the bag. This is another one of those.

If you watch either of those videos and just think Trump's nuts you're surely mistaken and I don't understand why this same guy keeps posting these videos totally not getting it. This is exactly how you lose the election in 2020 totally not getting what's happening here. Trump's rallies are slapstick comedy sprinkled with political humor. His line about his beautiful head of hair and needing a lot of water followed by the powers that be restricting water, right into spending 10 times as long, thus using the same amount of water, is exactly what he should be saying.
Trump is accurately appealing to the feeling that any restriction will eventually trickle down to every step of your daily life. He's making a mockery of people making a mockery of his hair. He's invoking not only actually experiences people have had with things like low flow toilets, but then applying it to the fear that this is coming for every bit of their daily life. This is a suburban wife invocation. And it works. And every time I see that guys same Twitter face and yet another rally speech that is just hip pocket Trump cracking jokes with that Twitter guy freaking out, I realize that Trump has a really good chance to win 2020.

Because you are looking through the eyes of n intelligent human, you are seeing him do something deliberate and calculated.
He isn't. He's simply appealing to the dumbies in his base who guzzle down literally anything he says, so..... He says anything. There's no grand plan. He's just Trumping as my friend would say.
And the $47 estimate is only for part of the wall. I wonder how much each individual tax payer will be out by the time the great big beautiful wall is finished?

You're overestimating the appeal of this type of nonsense rhetoric. Trump's base is locked in and will love him no matter what he does or says. War with Iran? Trump is tough. Oh, now there's peace with Iran? Trump is a peacemaker. He can, and does, have it any way he likes with his supporters, as long as he steers clear of a few red lines.
But he is incredibly unpopular for an incumbent with an economy this strong. He has not been able to build significantly upon his support and all of this 'shoot from the hip' stuff hurts his ability to appeal to a broader support base.
He will still win re-election but it will be based on a weak Democrat candidate rather than his own ability to reach out to the mass of voters he didn't already grab in 2016.

The people who will lap up any shit he feeds them. If he was running against a strong candidate like Obama, he would need more than those people and he would need to say less stupid shit all the time to attract them.
