Our seats for a Penn & Teller show:

unfortunately Teller was in for back surgery, so they told us it was now 'Penn & Friends'. Was still pretty funny. They played on the audience to come up a lot, I find that a bit cringy. Hope I never get called up lol

Next day we rented a car and drove out to the desert:

If you look you can see SUN DOGS around the sun. I obviously interpreted it as some magic desert juju:

Yeah there was a lot of pro-Trump stuff there. I would say more than Anti-Trump which is refreshing cuz here its literally 100% anti-Trump propaganda everywhere you look.

I was curious if his hotel was maxed out, or has been receiving a drop in occupancy since he got elected?

This was the closest I got to TRUMP tower:
Only walked/been driven past it so I don't know if it's a decent place or not but it looked dated even the first time I saw it and that might have been 15 years ago now. Went to Trump's casino in Atlantic City and that was a hovel but most of Atlantic City is anyway. He filed for bankruptcy for that casino so that didn't work out too well.

/not having a go about Trump, I actually have a bit of a soft spot for him at the moment.

Went to see KA (Cirque du Soleil) at the MGM

I'd seen a Cirque du Soleil before in Canada, and wasn't impressed at all, was mostly just a bunch of gay interpretive dancing etc.

But this one in Vegas was a whole nother level, was completely blown away it was fantastic. Craziest theatre production value I've ever seen. This version had tons of martial arts in it too, they had huge epic fight battles ON A 100ft-high WALL it was nuts. Brilliant Art Direction and Design. Highly recommend:

Tons of huge lights and billboards everywhere for FURY vs WILDER II. This was just a little ad, on the main strip there were lots of massive stuff in lights for it.

Last day I walked down to the LUXOR. I wanted to see because I had just been in Egypt and seen the actual Luxor

This stuff looked great, just like the real thing except cleaner/not damaged:

I wonder if they paid attention at all to which heiroglyphs are on the wall. Is likely they just copied some existing walls without paying attention to translation, but its also possible there is some secret evil shit being written here, lol :D

Luxor from the outside. A pretty huge pyramid:

In front of the Pyramid:

Also in front of the pyramid, they all line up:

I couldn't get on with Fremont. I was a smoker the first time I went so I wasn't being all wagging fingers but everywhere stank of smoke. The air con on the strip worked perfectly.

Enock-O-Lypse Now! @ENOCK get in here:

The inside was HOLLOW. I thought it would be just stacked floors but the inside is a hollow pyramid, with the hotel rooms stacking all along the outside walls. Its beautiful but also pretty creepy if you are CT nut in any way :D

Upon entrance there was a RAMSES-lookin statue, but with 6 RAMS at his feet (3 on either side). I don't remember seeing any Rams when I was in Egypt looking at this stuff. Found it odd that they would choose something so obviously in-authentic when the rest looks fairly accurate:

My imaginative fears however were only reinforced by the NEXT thing you see as you walk in:

In fact the whole place had a clear DIABLO theme. How they mixed up the idea of Diablo with an ancient Egyptian theme is up for speculation imho.

DIABLO cantina with Obelisk top:

In addition to the Obelisk out front, there is also a huge Obelisk in the very center of the entire hotel/pyramid, pointing directly up to the apex. Again, I wonder if any attention was paid to which heiroglyphs they chose for the design or not:

That's brilliant. I did the crime museum in DC which was cool but one dedicated to the mob would have been cooler.

I might have had something in my eye first time I saw The Bellagio fountains. It was set to Man in The Mirror which was really lovely. (No Jacko jokes, I thought he was a c word but I liked that track).

Yes its amazing how many places in Vegas still allow open smoking indoors!

Casinos, hotels, even restaurants and buffets I saw with smokers and ashtrays. Many of the old casinos by Freemont totally stunk of 100 years of cigarettes lol you're right

Diablo's moved hotels? I used to love that place. Can't remember where it used to be but it had a really nice view of the strip.

Masato Toys @Masato Toys looks like you had a blast. I'll be out that way in May again for EDC, if you're out that way LMK and I'll show you some fun Vegas joints. My buddy Jason use to work as a VIP manager out there at the MGM, he showed me a bunch of great old Vegas spots... And one of my exes was a Siren at Treasure Island, and she showed me a lot of the artist spots/local bars in Vegas that were awesome (please tell me that you went to the Pepper Mill). We also use to go hiking in the Valley of the Sun national park, and checked out all the Petroglyphs in that park.

Strip from the taxi going back to the airport:

All in all, a VERY crazy place. It is super fun I will admit - the quality of food and drinks and entertainment is all super indulgent, its delicious to be there and get pampered and feel spoiled etc

On the other hand, it really is 'Sin City', in the sense that EVERYTHING is designed around those indulgences, our vices and weaknesses of the flesh. ALL those temporary pleasures and highs are available there if you have the money. And if you don't have the money there is the temptation to WIN the money. All the while constantly stimulating the sex drive and satiating us with booze and drugs.

What a wicked, frightful combination IMO.

I saw TONS of broken individuals, folks who likely came to this town and got lost until they had nothing left and now stuck and poisoned. Super sad. I have had my share of addiction and vice, but I like to think its been relatively mellow and harmless for the most part so far. But I can totally see how humans can easily fall too far, or become engulfed in them, often to the point of no return. I think Vegas has likely done that to generations of people. I wonder how many people literally lost everything in Vegas, in a matter of hours their life turned upside down in ruins over some stupid shit. It honestly breaks my heart.

Even Penn from Penn & Teller openly made several blasphemy jokes in his show, everyone laughs lol

I am not specifically religious but do see a dichotomy of investment in spiritual vs investment in physical attainment. And Vegas is tilted so far to one of those scales it's almost frightening. If there are such things as Demons or Archons etc, that is where they can likely be found lol.

I didn't gamble. My brother's girlfriend tried and lost $50 in a snap lol that was all the confirmation I needed. I seriously don't get it. The Casino was sort of embedded into our hotel so you had to go through whenever you wanted to go somewhere, but honestly I could wait to GTFO everytime I was there. So much NOISE, bleeping and blooping, colors and lights overdose it was fuckin nauseating. How people can sit in there playing those games for hours is truly baffling to me lol

Was also weird I honestly did not see one genuinely attractive woman the whole time I was there. They sell sex everywhere there, poor kids have to see smut everywhere displayed as commonplace, lots of dancing girls and strippers and performers and sexy advertising etc etc etc but to be honest I found them all to be so trashy and busted up lol I wouldn't touch it. I suppose if you're punch drunk with gambling woes and a divorce settlement things might look different tho :D

Vegas is a BLAST I think for a maximum of 1 week, probably less. Even if you are straight edge or cheap, I found it way too easy to blow a bunch of money there, fast. 1 week for average folk will fuck up your bank accounts, lol. Go enjoy, break out of your routine, eat some delicious food, laugh with friends, see some cool shows etc, even let yourself fall off a night or two if you like.
But pay attention to the traps and evils lurking just around the corner, for they are plenty and we are weak :(

The desert and mountains were cool though.

I did want to like it but it was just a bit claustrophobic.

MGM used to be my main, Mandalay tops it for UFC events though, the acoustics seem to work better.

Toss up between here and the central bar at Hard Rock for my favourite. The make some loopy juice cocktail called Ass Juice.

Super cool

Yeah I am sure that locals/people who work in that town know tons of cool places the tourists wont know how to find. The place is a whole universe of weird little bubbles of reality, so trippy

And yes the hiking looks great. If I go next time for sure I'm taking more time to go on some real hikes. It was so weird to go from all the artifical things of man, to being immersed in nature and things of God in a matter of a couple hours in a car. Huge difference. really interesting to see that duality so clearly illustrated

Great fucking thread, great pics! Also interesting take on Vegas, I like how you can put things into perspective and reflect on everything you took in ...perhaps your trip to Eygpt and now Vegas helped bring clarity to the big picture of things.

You certainly have been living it up this past year! Love it!
