But the whole reason they're called "company men" is because they're willing to go out there and get ripped off putting their well-being on the line for pittance.
Why would they suddenly start paying all their competent fighters Conor money if they're willing to do it for a fraction?
It was kind of sad seeing him ask Conor at the press conference to send some his way if the reports are true...

This is one of a few times where Cerrone has talked about fighter pay. The misconception is everyone gets to renegotiate when it's red panty night but these guys are on contract. Perhaps for instances like short notice it could be an option like Diaz or Mendes had but other than that it's business as usual.

7:20 is when he brings it up. I'll try to find the other one too.

The fans have been harping about the fighter pay for years but the fighters seem not to care as much as the fans do. It's sad listening to professional athletes literally beg for money during their interviews but they won't actually do anything to get better pay such as form my union.

well they've seen what happens to those who do complain, would you commit career suicide in the hope others stand with you?

Also you have the huge problem of having psychos like Leslie Smith as the face for starting a union. Even the other fighters that went along with her ripped her apart...

They obviously have the fans backing but they don't support each other. They are fighting for scraps while Dana has the full meal.

The UFC has always used the desperation of others to keep them in line, as in they can replace them with 10 more fighters whenever they want. Sucked before but then they went and hamstrung the fighters from making side money via sponsors. Sure they can still get sponsors and do but the opportunities to advertise for them are restricted heavily. Paige Vanzant makes money with her instagram account and doesn't run into the woodchipper either, but she's a chick that got a tremendous boost to her career not only from the unearned push the UFC gave her but her subsequent run on that dancing show.

It's disgusting that they saw some money they weren't in control of and made a deal to take it from them, but also shame on fucking reebok

Dana has literally said as much at an investors meeting - he doesn't like fighters getting paid too much because he wants to keep them desperate. There's always been a balance between their immediate greed and their desire for full control. They only thing that will make them forego additional revenue is a fear that it could undermine any part of their power.

Cerrone might not have been able to renegotiate, but often these contracts have different remuneration requirements if they are headlining or co-main event. I would be surprised if he didn't get a cut of the ppv on top of his normal 200k to show. That said every fighter in the UFC is under paid, including McGregor.

The only thing anyone here can say with certainty is that none of us know anything about what these guys are making beyond the discloses salaries. Between bonuses, sponsorships, and undisclosed pay, their take could be wildly different than the disclosed figures.
