I'll jump into it in a sec. I had a great lunch with some friends today, and we always get around to talking music, and it spurred a great conversation. Music elicits so much emotion and memories for so many different reasons, so we got to listing a bunch of songs for different occasions.

Here are the occasions....

Name the song that (makes you)...
1) Remember a great time-
The Refreshments - Banditos. The entire Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy album really. Any of those tunes takes me back to when my friends and I would just hang out on the back deck shooting the shit. We'd play other tunes, but that album was ALWAYS in the rotation during that time period.

2) Can always make you cry-
Tears in Heaven - Clapton. I lost someone very close to me a long time ago. He was sick for a bit, and while he was in the hospital he listened to this song a lot. It used to be one of my favorite tunes to play on guitar and I hardly ever play it anymore. It immediately takes me back to that hospital bed and watching his body shutting down on him. He died at the age of 26.

3) Gets you amped-
Tons of tunes. But if I'm going classic, I'm going Panama by Van Halen. Love that tune.

4) Would be your go to for Karaoke-
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis

5) Reminds you of someone you Love-
Put Another Log on the Fire by Tompall Glaser. My grandpa used to sing it all the time. That one I do play on guitar at all family camping trips and it's cool to see all the grandkids and little great-grandkids singing along. It makes my heart happy because I know he would have loved that.

6) Is your party anthem-
Don't really have one any more. When I was younger it was always You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC

7) Reminds you of darker days-
Nothing comes to mind. Other than #2.

8) Remember someone you lost-
See #2 and #5

9) Would be your walkout song-
Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
-or-
No Fuckin Problem by Suicidal Tendencies

10) Best describes you-
Guaranteed - Eddie Vedder
On bended knee is no way to be free
Lifting up an empty cup I ask silently
That all my destinations will accept the one that's me
So I can breath

Circles they grow and they swallow people whole
Half their lives they say goodnight to wives they'll never know
Got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul
So it goes

Don't come closer or I'll have to go
Holding me like gravity are places that pull
If ever there was someone to keep me at home
It would be you

Everyone I come across in cages they bought
They think of me and my wandering
But I'm never what they thought
Got my indignation but I'm pure in all my thoughts
I'm alive

Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
Underneath my being is a road that disappeared
Late at night I hear the trees
They're singing with the dead
Overhead

Leave it to me as I find a way to be
Consider me a satellite forever orbiting
I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me
Guaranteed

11) You'd request to be played at your funeral-
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life - Monty Python.

12) Reminds you of your greatest victory-
Back in Black - AC/DC. After dominating baseball for most of my youth, our team lost the main tournament to a cocky ass team. We faced them the next season in the finals of the same tournament and we crushed them. Coach told us not to talk shit, so we just played that song through a boombox in the parking lot.

13) Is your favorite beach/pool jam-
Three Little Birds by Marley

14) Reminds you of home-
Good Ol Boys by Waylon. I'd watch the Dukes with my brother and sister every week.

15) Is your road trip jam-
I'm usually heading out to the woods, so Rise by Eddie Vedder always makes the playlist on the drive out there. Setting Forth by Eddie makes the grade as well. Also Society from that same album.

Not trying to shine a light on your darker times, it sucks you lost a close friend.
I just find it so absurd, how many people used tears in heaven as their wedding song. It's the polar opposite of a happy song.
I'm sorry you lost someone that close to you. You're a good man for being there for them.

The crazy/amazing thing about reading a lot of your responses, is that there are stories there that I'm sure none of you have told in a while, and probably never on this site..... and goddamn do I want to sit with some of you over a drink and hear these tales. At times this site gets ridiculous with some of the dumb shit, but insights like these show that there is a lot more to a lot of you than your TMMAC personas.... Love this, keep them coming.
