In the event a young boy or girl was touched up by somebody in a BJJ club would your thoughts be the same? Could be holding some precarious positions longer than needed, hands where they don't need to be, private lessons... I fully agree parents should be cautious anytime their kids are around anyone who could be viewed as an authority figure. Having said that where do you draw the line as a parent/guardian? It's easy to call out poor parenting in hindsight. "Wtf were you thinking sending your young daughter to a place where guys in pajamas have her mount them or stuff their face in her crotch? You didn't see this coming?"
Touchez, Touchez.... I guess I'm thinking that the difference is that most of the time with those little kids, the parents are there at the academy. There have been reported instances of a improper relationships with BJJ instructors and teenage students, the big difference is again, that's not with their parents around (those teenagers are driving to meet with those scumbags).
The other thing is, just like the Catholic Church, for YEARS the Boyscouts of America have been accused of sexual misconduct towards minors... Not a one or two case situation, but thousands of cases. If BJJ had a reputation like that, than fuck yeah I'd be leery of my kid joining. Sadly, if you ask the average person to name 3 things they know about the Boyscouts, you'll probably get 1) Scouts honor salute, 2) tying knots while wearing terrible uniforms, and 3) weirdo instructors that touch little boys dicks. I mean look at this guy.....
Was he busted for touching little boys, or honored for some achievement? NO ONE CAN TELL!!!!
Last point, I'm sure that a LOT of people did Boyscouts and weren't molested.... Hell, I went to a Michael Jackson concert when I was like 7 or 8, he didn't molest me..... Buuuuuuut it doesn't mean that he wasn't a molester. The Boyscouts are sadly tainted, and their legacy will probably be more about the negative thing than the positives.
